Texas DOT will pull you over anywhere for nothing what so ever and I think this was the case. Because unless they just built one there is no south bound scale on 59 anywhere in the Lufkin area. There is a north bound scale that is never used but for trucks to sleep at and its called a check station. So I guess that's why he told him to go to the nearest truck stop. Like I said somebody is leaving out some information. Now Dibol is known for its speed traps but I know you just said it was around there you think, and I know there's a little fuel stop with parking not to far from there but a couple of small fuel stops b4 Livingston.

The only time DOT has ever told me to catch up my log is when he has seen I haven't touched it for a couple days. I think this could of been the problem and he was shut down for something he did in the previous 7 days that wasn't right or on that day. Also you said he was about 40 miles from his destination and its 74 miles give or take to Houston from the Livingston
area. Maybe he was going to a Houston northern suburb or that wal mart dist in New Waverly. I think the Dot knew he would probably go over his hours to make delivery if it was scheduled for that day. Not saying he can give a ticket because of that. But we must watch what we tell these officers because they didn't fall off the turnip truck last night.

Dinomite, i guess i'll get more accurate info tomorrow. All the info that i provided was from what i was trying to remember from this morning's conversation with him. It is none of my problem, since it's his company and his truck, but again he is my brother and it pissed me off when he was explaining what happened to him. He has no reason to lie to me or withhold some info. I do know that since he is a fairly new OTR driver that it made him extremely nervous and somewhat scared.

Texas DOT is one messed up agency with a lot of bad advice, tactics and training. I got written up for an ABS light not working when it was working and the mechanic before the inspection said it was and the mechanic after the inspection said it was working along with myself. I keep hearing about all kinds of BS incidents that leads me to believe they seriously need way more training.

The scales on SR59 in Texas are terrible. One of our drivers was pulled in for inspection driving a new tractor & pulling a tanker. The inspector couldn't find anything wrong with logs, paperwork, tractor or trailer. He stood there a few minutes, then said, "Hummm...let's do this again." Wrote up $680.00 worth of tickets for oil leaks on the tractor. Anywhere he saw dirt in a gasket area, he said it looks like a leak or probably will leak very soon. It's all about abuse of power, making it look like the inspector is actually doing something positive, and money for the state.

I've been close before in an inspection station and they let go find a place to park where there was a bathroom, food, etc. sounds like the cop was being a dick. Did your brother tell him he was short on time and close to where he was gonna park? That's what I did before anything even got started.
