***Give them some room****

When I get in a back up, I'll back out and give the four wheeler's room and let them do there thing.

I come up on a back up and we are loosing the left lane all the four wheeler's are going around on the left, Most will tighten up and leave them out to dry, But it don't work that way they cut in and everybody in the right lane has to stop to let them in.
I give them room and I keep moving.

I use to run a dedicated run thru downtown Atlanta, and I also had 40 plus bushel's in the trl, If I tightened it up and kept them out there., I was constantly stopping and starting when I gave them room I eased right on thru.

Give them an Inch and they will take a mile.

I think a Cop should be there at the merge and giving all the 4 wheelers a ticket for inpeding traffic really. I almost wittness a Construction worker getting killed cause of a 4 Wheeler doing that. Only thing that save her life (Flag Lady) was I ran off the road to alow the 4 wheeler to get over. And why is it at these Construction Areas have the back ups? Cause of the 4 wheelers doing that. Everyone ends up having to stop to let them in. So by staying back is only encouraging them to do the Stupid. They have signs up mile or more of them, so there is NO excuse for it.

for anybody who has driven in downtown Atlanta knows that it is probably one of the nastiest towns to drive thru, roadwise that is. where else does the roads go from 3 lanes each way to 7-8 lanes with exits on both sides then 75/85 split again and back down to 3 lanes not including the HOV lane all while the 4 wheelers dodge in and out of traffic and all this is on a good day.

I do agree with what you are saying, I like to keep moving and regardless of what you do the 4-wheeler's are going to go around, By Keeping distance You will keep moving and save your brakes. try it sometimes and let me know how it worked for you, I know the 4 w/er's will keep coming around but you should stay moving,If there movement in the Jam. also thanks for your thoughts and have a great day.

You said it perfectly, some four wheelers do act stupidly but I don't see the need for truckers to follow their example.. I do the same as you, leave room and keep rolling.

you forgot to mention the miles of construction. how about Gwinett county at rush hour-a great time to hone your low to high and back again shifting skills.

Slow poke reputation is Neither Here Nor There
I can vouch for the bad drivers in Atlanta. Worst town to drive in by far except NY or Shaky. I drive like I live, any where, nice and slow. I let the 4 wheeled dummies fly by and give them all the room they want. Remember that we have a lot of weight on these cretins and guess who goes to prison and gets blamed and sued and losses their license. You guessed it, WE DO. So the next time you roll up on a jam session remember not to get stuck on stupid and leave them plenty of room to jump in.

Ok how about the "Professional" Drivers?

East into Toronto ontario the other night, construction had 3 lanes down into one, the CB is buzzing for miles letting everyone know we had to be in the right hand lane, so there we are in the right hand lane watching truck after truck roll right past only to squeeze in at the front!

Is that ok?

I've always wondered why some people feel it is OK to cut in line in traffic. We don't cut in line at the bank, or at amusement parks, or at the grocery store checkout, but it's perfectly fine to cut in line on the freeway. Makes no sense to me.

But tailgating makes no sense to me either, and that happens. Cutting immediately in front of someone after passing them makes no sense to me, but that happens.

I've learned to just accept it. Right or wrong, there's nothing I can do about it. Getting angry only hurts me. So when I come up on a merge where traffic is stop-go-satop-go, I put the truck in second gear, sit back, and let her roll.
