Sure see enough FedEx wagons in the ditch, especially in the winter. Winter of 2007 - 2008 I lost count of how many I saw in the ditch.:biggrin_25513:

There are always exceptions to the rules but really the truck driving schools are full of people every week signing up to learn how to drive that cant even pay for it out of pocket. They have to do these "we pay for your training if you stay with us a year or so and allow us to take full advantage of you" programs...indentured slaves from day 1..its the job for the aboved mention type of people..Your parents would have supported any descision you make because they love you not because its a wise career choice...

UPS package drivers have their own forum called Brown Cafe. You can visit it and maybe get some insight if they will hire Felons. As someone stated, you do have to be Bonded so it will be an issue.

Yes there are companies that hire felons.

    carolinacargo (Carolina Cargo)

    westernexp (Western Express)

There are others, but don't know for sure which ones.

Recently a guy on here was hired by Paschall Truck Lines. Said he has a lengthy record.

i left corporate america to drive a truck, never did drugs, never dropped out of school

you think so terribly of yourself and your colleagues, how do you sleep at night?

i would really that to be that miserable in life

bigdogpile, most of the individuals that you descibed never make it out of training. I went through one of those 'training programs' 2 years ago. The students you described were disqualified in many instances due to undisclosed criminal backgrounds, failed drug tests, and failed physicals. Others dropped out voluntarily during OTR training because they weren't prepared to live the trucker lifestyle. The few of us that successfully completed training sincerely wanted to become OTR drivers. True, we signed a one year contract with the company, but most left before completing the one year, they simply made arrangements to finish paying off the school loan.

Fedex freight yes, Fedex ground/home delivery no. UPS, it depends, considering it'll take you 5 yrs to get a driving gig it won't matter much.
