Usually at the fuel island.....

I have been doing this for over 8 years and not had any crime against me.

My uncles did it for over 30 years and no crime.

I never have felt the need to be concerned about it. I have been in the gang areas in LA, and Chicago.

I have NEVER seen or heard of anyone hunting with a handgun. The Virgnia Tech tragedy wouldn't have happened if handguns were not allowed to be owned by anyone other then the police.

Think about the proof needed to prove deadly force even by the police depts.

Own all the rifles, muskets, shotguns you want to protect your land(private) should anyone assault you there. I know that trucks are sometimes considered our homes, but think, when ever we are in them, we are on puplic domain property which means that, other then getting on or in the truck, the land around the perimeter of the truck is public. Fortunately, I have not had any issues to contend with about these issue when I was on the road. If one arises, I will take what ever action is available to me at the time. I have owned a handgun in the past but only since it was my fathers military Revolver. Upon his death, I donated to a local collector. Guess I'm a hipocrit for not melting it. Oh by the way...... there is NO firing pin in it anymore.

I don't want to offend anyone, just stating my thoughts, right or wrong.
You have never heard of anyone hunting with a handgun. ROFLMAO im still laughing from that that is hilarious. To make that statement you obviously know very little about handguns period.

OK FOLKS, I FEEL A NOVEL COMMING ON HERE, BUT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
Yes, you will catch some flak, at least with me. First lets start with the right to bear arms and "hunting". The 2nd amendment to the constitution was put in place by men who knew we would have to defend our homes and our country. Read any of the writings of the founding fathers and you will see the individual right to arms, was not for squirrel hunting, but to prevent tyranny of the people by an out of control government and protection of our homes and selves from those who wished to do us harm. Handguns also fill that role. After all, they had handguns during the time of Washington and Jefferson. Handguns are merely a convenient method of carrying a gun, instead of having to carry a rifle or shotgun. That's why you don't see Police carrying a rifle while walking a beat or writing you a ticket. Not practical.

Second, I hunt with a handgun and shoot competition. I have fired tens of thousands or rounds of ammunition that have never hurt anyone. Yet it sounds as though you think I'm part of the problem. I have a grandmother and an aunt who had to use a handgun to protect their lives. They are both ALIVE today, because of a handgun. In both cases, a long gun would have either been impossible to use, or could have been wrestled away from them. As you said, have all of the muskets, rifles, shotguns you want..... have you ever tried to fend off a carjacker in your car with a musket, pal? Uh, yeah!!!

Third, as a retired Police Officer, I can tell you that handguns did not cause the Virginia Tech shooting. A crazed person with no ethics or morals and being fed by a constant barage of garbage over the internet chose to take a weapon (any weapon) and kill innocent "UNARMED" people. It seems that your Police did a very good job in protecting these folks, doesn't it? In fact, they never entered the building until the shooting was over. Imagine if those students who had concealed carry permits would have been able to respond with the same force. After all, they are the ones who have been checked out and screened. But they were forbidden from doing so, because ONLY THE POLICE can have guns on that campus. By that line of thinking, you should only be allowed to own and operate a bicycle. A motorized vehicle, such as a car, will only be used to kill someone by a careless individual or a drunk driver. Only someone who needs to transport freight will be allowed to have a vehicle, except for Police as you say. Your bike is really all you need to get from one place to another. Get the picture. What about when the Government now says, we've taken your handguns, but you really don't need a long gun or "musket" from the civil war? Should we give those up now because the government says so? I've seen alot on the street. Sorry bud, but the Police usually get there when it's over, then clean up and chase the bad guy who killed YOU or YOUR FAMILY.

When was the last time you saw a criminal obey the law? So when a law is passed that says, No Handguns, only the law abiding people will turn them in. After all, we have drug laws and over 40,000 gun laws right now in this country. So what you are telling me is that you are turning me loose in the street with thousands of armed thugs, and I will be unarmed, simply because I OBEY the law. It's hard for me to carry a shotgun down the street, but according to you; I won't be able to protect myself on the street while away from home anyway. You know... it's "public domain".

So, As for you defending your personal land and not outside of that or your truck, it's easy to see that you not only have NO Knowlege of Gun Laws, but also the laws concerning your own protection. Any citizen may defend themselves using reasonable force and if need be, deadly force when a persons life is in danger. Sure there are variations on that law from state to state, but every state allows deadly force to protect your "life". Law Enforcement is a different story in many cases, due to public scrutiny and the means of defense at their disposal. Thousand of law-abiding people defend their lives with a gun every year, and not just in their homes. Yet almost none of those responsible gun owners are arrested or successfully prosecuted or sued. Notice I said "responsible" and "law-abiding". You're telling me that a woman defending her life and her child in the parking lot at Wal-Mart is different from protecting her life on her property? She's still just as dead if she doesn't.

So your final statement of " I don't want to offend anyone, just stating my thoughts, right or wrong" is rather strange. Your thoughts in your post come off as though you are an authority on the matter and stating fact, but obviously you're not. It IS offensive to me, when someone tells me to give up all or part of my rights in the constitution, so you did offend. Which rights are YOU willing to give up? How about free speech, or right to property? But you did state "right or wrong", and I would have no trouble saying, YOU ARE WRONG. So, thanks for the wrong thoughts!!! And by the way, I'm sure that donating or deactivating your Fathers Military revolver will save many, many lives. After all, there are millions of gun owners in this country who never hurt anyone with more than 100 million handguns in the population and less than 1/100th of one percent of handguns are ever used in a crime, so you really didn't up the odds any. You just gave away a prized heirloom.

What's the term for a law that's so wrong--everyone disobeys? Civil
disobedience? That'll be me the day we follow in the footsteps of the UK,
Australia or Canada.

It's only a short step from outlawing guns to totalitarian rule.

Yeah, I just cannot believe the number of AMERICANS who believe that we have a right to firearms so we can go hunting or shoot a snake while fishing. SHEESH!!! While that is merely a small usage of arms, think about this... How in the world did this country begin? What were we given the 2nd Amendment for? Mind you the 2nd one written. The first was Freedom Of speech, press, then the 2nd amandment which finalizes "the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Can't get any clearer than that. But yet it's all about shootin' Bambi!!! I certainly hope some of us will actually obtain a copy of the constitution and READ IT!!! Better still, read the federalist papers, with the thoughts and explainations of the men who wrote it and why. It definitely clears up some arguments. This is important stuff folks. Your country and your very lives may one day depend on it.

Newbie,

Do toyour assesment and spot on knowledge of this countries 2nd ammendment, I gave you some possitive "reputation"

Bonus points to ya for maintanng those views as a former cop and crime fighter.

Many thanks to you for spreading the truth.

To any of you clueless dumb****ers who believe that guns ( be it rifles or handguns) actually kill people, I will submit to you that if that logic is true to you in your simple leftist kommie mind, thenit also would stand the reason ( in your same leftist kommie mind) that pencils are responsible for mis-spelled words.

Yeah, spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat. A ford is responsible for drunk driving.
