| GUNS! I will probably get a bunch of "flack" after this post but here goes. I am all for "the rights to bare arms", if they are for use in hunting. There is only ONE reason to own a handgun. That is to kill or wound another human being. I have NEVER seen or heard of anyone hunting with a handgun. The Virgnia Tech tragedy wouldn't have happened if handguns were not allowed to be owned by anyone other then the police. Think about the proof needed to prove deadly force even by the police depts. Own all the rifles, muskets, shotguns you want to protect your land(private) should anyone assault you there. I know that trucks are sometimes considered our homes, but think, when ever we are in them, we are on puplic domain property which means that, other then getting on or in the truck, the land around the perimeter of the truck is public. Fortunately, I have not had any issues to contend with about these issue when I was on the road. If one arises, I will take what ever action is available to me at the time. I have owned a handgun in the past but only since it was my fathers military Revolver. Upon his death, I donated to a local collector. Guess I'm a hipocrit for not melting it. Oh by the way...... there is NO firing pin in it anymore. I don't want to offend anyone, just stating my thoughts, right or wrong. Last edited by bandit24; 05.10.2007 at 02.04 PM. | I have no problems with weapons either. I even have hand guns. I see no reason to have one in the truck. Simply because most places you deliver to have a sign no weapons allowed on property. Plus I have never worked for a trucking company that allowed them in the cab. Not to mention that look how people act on the road. The average person is OK until they get out on the road then in kicks the road rage and they become an evil monster. I have met very few truckers that act like they have enough since to have a loaded weapon on their person. Turn the CB on 19 for a few minutes and ask yourself if the person talking needs to have one or not????

| not this crap again ![]() You people do not drive without knowing the laws / regs on logs, bills, road usage, etc. do you? IF you are going to carry around ANYTHING that goes bang, YES including a Flare gun (don't think it is not classified as a weapon). PLEASE know what the regs are in regards to you geographical location. I pack and carry some of my 1000 yard rifles when I go to AZ and TX. I know and understand what I am dealing with. I have my NC CCW permit. I know what I am dealing with. IF a person can purchase a pistol, they can carry it ( w/ permit), despite what you think of their CB persona. I , let me repeat this, "I" feel better knowing if the SHTF, I have a chance. If you think you do not need one in a truck, them you do not need one in your home. Stupid logic IMHO. Va Tech showed you people nothing did it? You can be a victim anywhere any time. This is a right as a human being PROTECTED by the 2nd amendmant. It is an individual thing, not to be denied by your personal feelings/ beliefs. NOW, as for shotguns, flare guns, stun guns, even mace. You had best read the regs. on such items. Ignorance or heresay will get you in deep doo doo. Links: www.packing.org www.opencarry.org www.saf.org and of course www.atf.org I did NOT mention the FMCSA because they have no regs nor any say so on a firearm in an 18 wheeler, car, or motorcyle. If I remember correctly the NTSB has set the rules for "commercial" transportation, thus meaning Planes, trains, and buses. |

The attitude that "It is OK to ban guns that I don't own and shoot" is going to eventually get guns like your 12 guage pump shotgun banned. Imagine being allowed to only use a .410 shotgun to trap shoot because people think that a 12 guage is too powerful. |

The problem there again goes like this. My house is on a foundation. I do not drive it through company gates that have signs that say no firearms beyond these gates. My house in never on my company's property that has signs that read no firearms on company property or in company property. Since it is legal for me to have firearms in my house I have them. Since all the places I have ever drove for do not allow them. I don't carry them in my truck. It is that simple.

| From the horses mouth From the man himself. Signaling device. While the local yahoo may perceive a flare gun as a weapon. As long as it is not loaded with a live round of buckshot. It is just that, a signaling device. And you won't be bothered. You may be asked why you carry it...but duh. I didn't think this one up on my own. Another point to ponder... Why do they not restrict the purchase of this "weapon". My kids can buy them all day long. |

![]() As far as at home or PV, yes I do PACK HEAT LEGALLY, but in the BIG TRUCK..... NO ... as far as foreign trade zones ( and yes , you probably deliver / pick up at more of them than you realize)Choose your battles and do not limit your earning potential, is all I am saying. |

| I have a Florida CCP and would love to take my .357 with me.But,the company says no,so I leave it at home.I have had to park overnite in some shady places and wish I had it with me.Luckly nothing happened.I feel that as long as I stay in my truck I should be able to protect myself with a knife (which is still concidered by the law a deadly weapon) or a tire thumper. The problem is when I have to get out of the truck that I am most vunerable to attack.Thats when I wish I had my handgun on me.I know calling 911 is a waste of time, they just show up to write the report after it's all over.I used to say "I would rather be judged by a jury than carried to my grave".But,lately alot of these "good shoot" cases have been going against the person that defended themselves with a gun.So I guess my options are to carry a gun and chance prison time or chance becoming a victim and giving up my money and possibly my life.
