Welcome to the industry. Until you get some senority under your belt, you're gonna be walked on and tested. Every company does this. You're not going to get a companies best truck with their best payrate and best loads to start with. That comes with time. Time spent as a driver doesn't mean squat when you're switching 3+ jobs a year. What matters is time with a company. Pick a well-known company (not a mainstream carrier though) and tough it out. Things will get better the longer you stay at a company, I promise you.

Yea I dont mind taking some crap seeing I just started out. But low low pay team driving,2 dogs in a truck and not being paid wont fly with me. I dont expect to make 1000 dollars a week being new. But 400 dollars a week running out my full 70 hauling hazmat no way if you break that pay down for the hours I made less than minimum wage hauling hazmat.

I thought i had found the company I was going to do my time with in this last company but the red flags were flying all over the place from the get go first off I was on 10-99 no prehire drug test had a dui driver sideswipe me on I-4 jan 2nd didnt get sent in for a accident drug test. Now i was making 500 dollars a week which to me wasnt great but it wasnt bad other than the part of being 10-99 so I dealt with the pay no problem 1st check bounced and left me with overdraft charges because I paid bills. I dealt with that wrote it off as a hiccup on their part mind you when i first started with this company i had to wait three weeks to get my first check. Well checks started coming in later was being told wait till monday after 3 pm to cash it. No problem i dealt with it but when the second check bounced that was the straw that broke the camels back I did not want to quit but I have to be able to rely on my checks to be on time I worked for that money and don't wanna hear any excuses about being paid on time. This company wouldn't hesistate to fire my ### if I wasn't doing my job and i expected them to do theirs and pay me on time and i told that to the owner.

And just to note this company owed me 3 more checks they finally gave me one yesterday that when i went to try to cash it after 3 like they asked me to THEIR bank would not cash it.... So I call the companies payroll girl like wtf? she got snotty with me asking questions about my money. So I go to my bank try to cash it and the bounced check from the week before they wouldn't so I went over to the off duty police officer in the bank started asking him about legal means to solve this bovine excrement. A lady that worked at the bank help desk over heard me talking to him came and asked to see my checks she ran them again after teller did and came back and said money is in that account go to their bank and cash them now! So i hightailed it to their bank and FINALLY got my money sadly they still owe me 2 more checks so im sure ill have to wait till monday after 3 for those 2 also knowing there is a 95% chance those checks will bounce too.

Sorry foy the long winded post but I want people to understand just what ive went through

Like I said I'm a current cypress driver and am happy there they are a trucking company and they are going to make their money first but they aren't bad to work for . Their trucks ain't new but they are better maintained than they used to be . I'm in a 2007 int . Never broke down and I make good miles . I run two weeks by choice because I want to make more money . They will get you home once a week if that's how you want to run.

Yea Cypress isnt out of the question I was in flatbed divison at prime and did enjoy it because there is more to it than just driving. Before my father in law went to prime he got his start at cypress. from he told me he was happy there and made decent money. I am exploring all options as of right now and trying to make a super informed choice because I'm tired of changing jobs and want steady income like no other

Heard thru the grapevine they take new drivers. Probably varies terminal to terminal company to company. That's what they prefer 1yr exp. When freight is busy, freight is sitting on the dock and no exp drivers are applying cause they don't want to work nights guess who gets hired? I work for a big LTL we require 1 yr exp. There's drivers on this board who got hired on with no exp in my company. Doesn't hurt to apply or call. A good job isn't gonna land on your lap you got to go get it.

Urban Hillbilly, check out Calex Express. They are based out of PA, but, at least as of last winter did a fair share of running to and from Florida. In fact, they have a few drivers who live down there and are doing fairly well. You might be out anywhere from 5-10 days running for them, but they are a fair company with decent people. Not sure if one year will get you in, but it's worth a try.

The crap never ends. Your hearse will be cut off on the way to your funeral. And when you arrive at the cemetery they will make you wait 4 hours past your burial appointment to lower you in the hole.

THEN.............. you can rest in peace!
