At high RPM air loss would not be expected unless he had air compressor/governor issues which is highly rare. IMO, he was obviously very heavy, may have had more than ample HP to get him to the top relatively easily, and I doubt he stopped at the top, and I suspect he began the initial decent well above 55 MPH ... maybe was half asleep and didn't even have his engine brake enaged? Who knows but there obviously was a major lapse in judgement and/or some defective brakes. One may almost suspect the driver was half asleep as he topped the hill and simply wasn't cognizant of the situation but he obviously "woke up" at some point during the rapid decent and over-revving.

I've seen a few hit them pits before. They are lucky to make it a third of the way. I think it's a deep layer of small round pea gravel they probably got out of the TN river. He had to run up the left side.

I bet he was green and realized he was in the wrong gear and attempted to downshift and missed. It was all over but the crying... and underware mishap!

Maybe he was disgruntled and was done with truck driving.

Gassed on it empty then let it roll up to the top.

That'll teach the company to mess with me :biggrin_25523:

I bet the trainer wasn't happy when he had to get out of the sleeper and walk down the ramp . I pity the newbie that has to walk up the ramp to get his first truck he's waited 2 weeks for .

That was my thought too. Maybe the driver was fed up with the company and lack of maintenance on the truck and figured this would be a good way to abandon the truck without getting dinged on his DAC and screw the company when the DOT folks inspected the truck on the runaway ramp and forced it out of service. I am not saying that is the brightest way of going about it but is a plausible way. All I know there has to be a good story behind this one.
