It isn't any secret that many truckers are gone from home or are living in their trucks. Anyone listening to truckstop/cb talk knows most truckers are passionate about politics.. I found that voting was difficult.
Anyone want to discuss how to register to vote, how to get a ballot when you are on the road or any problems/issues?

You might want to move this to the political forum .http://www.longdistancevoter.org/absentee_ballots#.UbSnXPnqnQs

There is no reason any trucker can not vote absentee (or early) given how lax the requirements are and the amount of time you are allowed to vote early. If they are literally living out of their trucks and can't accurately provide a permanent "home address", they probably shouldn't be voting anyway.

I am a permanent absentee voter in my state. I get a ballot mailed to me for every election, local, county, state and federal. It was not difficult to set up. Contact your county registrar and they should be able to tell you how to do it.

RickG -I thought about where to put this and it is not a political question. I thought it was a practical problem that experienced truckers might know about..but that is just my opinion
STexan - Why should a team or solo living in their truck "not be voting anyway." ?

I get to my home state early enough to vote. I get home often but I got really tired of having to manufacture a "home address." I am honest so I went directly into the Registrars office, showed them all my proof of residency, US citizenship and I was registered as "non-traditional housing." That is Nevada. I can park the truck, trailer at the Registrars, walk in, get a ballot, fill it out in the truck and take it back in..I Voted!
But every situation is different. There have been times when I didn't get "home" to get that ballot..or it was forwarded too late. Getting the "non-tradition" registration was very difficult. I had to show many documents and explain carefully but Nevada is fair if you are honest.

Depending on your state some states if not most you can register @ your DMV office some @ the county office sometimes both and when & if you have to give up your email make darn sure the you have a separate New G-Mail just for that some of these political schmucks will flood your email with crap. during the elections PS. Try and think what is best for all Americans and try to put your self in their shoes as much as you can And trust me when I tell you this There Are NO GOD'S There Is Only One....... The GOD'S will be fighting one another And the ungrateful human schmucks will running for the hill's trying to Vote for The Winner Not because They Like Him But So They Can try to lobby their way to his wallet Thank GOD for Everything But mostly for his kindness and forgiveness we shcmucks have proven again and again We are Not Worthy vote your Conscience Not what others think It is not a bout YOU It's About America And It's Not about who is most likely to win just look around & see how many so called winners turned in to a lying sack of you know what.

Why should someone with NO connections or ties to a given local community be voting for/on critical local and state issues? What's to keep them from voting in multiple jurisdictions? If they don't spend more than a few days at "home" they don't know enough about the candidates and they don't have sufficient stake in the outcome. If they pay rent or mortgage 12 months a year, or live with a family member and visit frequently and call that "home" then they certainly have the right to vote there, otherwise they should excuse themselves from voting if they have no roots anywhere.

They have to be part of one commuinty to have an address for their CDL, and that where they vote. If he does not vote it could effect his or her ability to do as they do

    Charli Girl Thanks this.
