killernoha ... yeah, that's what i'm trying for. there's a fair bit of logging done locally. if i could break into that, i think i'd do ok. it's just trying to convince someone to put me on without 2 years experience under my belt. it's tough over here, cos there's no "training" programs like over there where they'll give you weeks (or even months, it seems) of training in return for 12 months service or whatever. i keep asking how i will get the experience if no one will give me a job and people just seem to shrug their shoulders and look vague.

Half way through week 3 of school. I've passed my pretrip and my backing. They weren't to bad. I drove the main roads today for the first time and it was the time of day everyone is tying to get home! Yikes, why does my instructor have so much faith in me??? Anyways I did pretty good, didn't cause any accidents that I know of, the transmission is still in fact, the instructor didn't yell at me and I don't think anyone that was in the truck needs to go see a chiropractor. So all is good. Can't wait till tomorrow.

Update. I graduated from the driving school last Thursday, I've decided to go with Werner because once I get my own truck I can and will be bringing my dog. She loves to ride and is very protective... I start orientation this coming Monday. They have me going to Lithia Springs on Sunday and I was looking at the schedule there, I hope someone is available to pick my up from the bus station, but I have a feeling I'll have to cab it to the hotel. So making sure I have the funds on my to do so just in case. So far I've got most of the items they put on a check list for me to bring and they said they would put me with a woman trainer. I'm pretty easy to get a long with and if they are willing to train me, I'm very willing to learn. I couldn't get enough of the driving once I learned the gears. And I loved the part of backing into a doc and did pretty good. I was the only female in school, and the instructors had me trying to teach some of the guys how to back. Funny thing is they all said they had backing experience? Some said they had driven with, or rode with some family members and felt they knew what they were doing. I had absolutely no experience. At any rate, all the guys were very nice towards the end, some no so much in the beginning but they finally realized I wasn't there to get a date and I didn't play the I'm a female and don't want to get dirty or I need help card. I listened, I learned the basics and now I want to learn as much as I can. I hope I can say I'm still this excited after a couple months!!! So far I love what I have learned and look forward to many adventures. Good, bad or ugly. Just hope its more good then the others...

I would think the forum software would have a way to lock threads that have not had an entry for a year or more. That would stop people from digging up these long ago forgotten threads.
FLATBED Thanks this.
