Truck Cleaning(or getting that smoke smell out)

With the two of three trucks I have had, there have been smokers in them. And to a non-smoker the smell can sometimes be overpowering. This is what I did to get rid of that lovely smoke smell. This guide is really for a freightliner but can be used anywhere of course.

I used some Clorox wipes, carpet cleaner(with brush), portable vacuum, and glass wipes.

1. Start at the top of the truck, the very top of the ceiling, everything needs to be scrubbed down with the clorox wipes, every surface, its alot of area but to be rid of the smell it is worth it.

2. Don't forget under the top bunk, alot of drives leave that top bunk down and smoke on the bottom bunk.

3. Pull out the shelves, wipe underneath on the plastic, then use carpet cleaner on the top side, scrub it and then vacuum it. While the shelves are out wipe down the inside with the Clorox. Include that shelf in front, dont think the carpet can be pulled out but clean it anyways.

4. Next hit the seats with the carpet cleaner, these will need to be cleaned a couple times to get all the smell out. Unless its leather, then some kind of leather soap then protection should be used.

5. The dash needs to be wiped down, then all the inside glass, and the doors.

6. The floor, for the floor I hit it with the carpet cleaner and using the scrub brush to finish it off then wiping it down with the wipes.

I hope this general guide helps you guys to get that smoke smell out.

Easiest and works. Cut a Potato in half and let it sit in it. It takes the oder out.

Everything you mention also needs to be done to have a Nice clean tiddy truck.

I hit everything in the truck with Lysol, then wipe everything down as mentioned above with Pine Sol.

Also if there are any carpeted areas, they will get scrubbed down.

I have actually done this on every truck I have gotten, whether it was smoked in or not, just so it is sanitized, but it also does well for getting rid of the smoke smell.
