Hi I'm a rookie
And I got a question, what opinion have the veteran drivers about taking any downhill with the shiffting bar in neutral position, just for save fuel,is this right o dangerous?
I got a friend who use to do that,he said he save a lot of fuel with that.
I apreciate any opinions. Thanks -
Don't ever descend a grade in neutral. You have no control, plus the tranny isn't getting lubricated.
-
thanks, but Idont know what tranny is?,my grammar is not so good
-
Tranny is the transmission, that which is between the engine and rear end. It has gears and fluid.
-
thanks very much,I apreciate the explication, thanks guys -
Coasting in neutral is illegal (even in cars...engines may stall out on cars and you may not be able to get a truck back into gear, meaning in an emergency you only have the airbrakes), does not save fuel, is extremely dangerous.
And your friend is an idiot. Lose the idiot friends and you live longer.
