Both of those companies do sliding pay scale and I would stay away. Now if you want regional work Marten might be good for you, but if you want to do otr. I would pick National over them, but national pays low. How about JBS Carriers. Check them out. I was with Marten for 1 month, and I couldn't bring home any money. It's also the slow season for reefer so anywhere you go is going to be a little low on miles. I actually went to Marten in Febuary and it was super slow, but they still were bringing in tons of people to orientation each week.

    Trukfit813 Thanks this.

Oh wow I know they had a hiring freeze on Florida sorry about that. But you can call and check anyway. Here is there website. There's a do you qualify thing on the website you answer a few questions, but if that pushes you out. I would still call recruiting and see if they are hiring in Florida. http://jbscarriers.com/OTR.aspx

Oh okay yea that sliding pay scale is the thing now with most of these companies now a days but when you say national pays low isn't about the same at Marten I know the recruiter said I'd be running everything east of I-35, but I'd figure with National I'd get paid more

I haven't looked at National's lately. But you would avoid those crazy inspection lanes at marten's terminals that can be up to 1 hour just getting to the lane. Then pray that nothings wrong they that's like 4 or 5 days. Then you will go take a short load somewhere and maybe run to the train yard to drop a trailer off or pick one up. If you pick one up you will only go about 150 miles with it and deliver it the next day. So I would go with national rather then Marten.

Guess Sammy has never been stuck in the Richmond area. I spent like 2 weeks in that area. 1 week pretty much in the shop. Next week running short Nabisco loads. Either to the train or to the receiver that wouldn't open till the next morning. I did one or two long runs, but that's because somebody was out of hours. I was trying to get home to okc but I put the Dallas area so I could turn truck in. They gave me a long load to Salt lake city. I dropped that thing in Indianapolis and took the bus home. Everybody at the terminal was crying about miles even the regional guys. They did pay for the cab to the bus that was nice and then 2 years later they sent me a bill for the hotel room in orientation. Even though they should of taken and probably did take all that out of my last check, but tried double dipping.

They want you for home time to have a secure place to park your truck. You can't park it at a truck stop. Some enclosed place etc. They also think everybody want there crappy trucks by telling you to put a lock on your steering wheel column under neath the hood every time you leave the truck.

For the most part Jan, Feb, and March are slower then normal for freight it what I was meaning. I'm running well at JBS, but I am bracing for a slow down. Even though last January was pretty good for me.

I would try Heyl, and Freymiller as well since you live in Florida.
