I apologize in advance if someone has answered this multiple times. I searched the forum with no luck. Any ways I have a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia and every time I get out of the truck and get back in it my seat raises to about max height. This is really annoying especially when I get out to check my surrounds when backing and I jump right back in and my seat is all off. If this has been gone over can someone just post a link to the tips. Other wise thank you for your help!
My seat raises on me all the time when I'm out of the truck.

It's just an air ride seat.. That's one of the many reasons I keep mine on the floorboard.
gpsman, Sly Fox and Blk07shelbyGT Thank this. -

Remember that i said that was 30 yr's ago and they may have changed since then and others would know better.
I learned that the hard way by taking a rough ramp in Saint Louis, every time i hit a pot hole the seat would raise and not come back down by the time i finished the ramp i couldn't reach the pedals -- found out the driver that had the truck before me weighed over 300 pounds and i didnt --i knew nothing about a weight adjustment on the seat. -
[QUOTE="Hang - Man";3877828]LOL I dont know if the air ride seats are the same as 30 yr's ago -- but does it lower right back down when you sit in it ? If not there may be an adjustment to lower the pressure to match the drivers weight.

There are 2 guys on this forum that can answer your question, I do believe. koncrete cowboy and WitchingHour."Hang - Man" Thanks this. -
If you raise your seat while you're in it, then you stop when you're where you want to be, and your weight is already compressing the air bag. But you'll see that right away when you get up... if it's raising higher than that while you're out, then you probably have a leak in the valve which raises and lowers the seat.

Mine does the same thing. When I slide out of the seat, the cushion part contacts the uppermost part of the elevation switch, causing it to raise up. Mine also sticks in the down position, so I'm constantly fiddling with it. But I'll bet that's what causing the issue you're having. I'm a short guy at 5'6", so putting the seat on the floor and raising my left thigh over the side of the cushion when I exit the truck is the only way to prevent the mysterious rise.
But I'm too lazy to do that, so I just deal with it. -
disconnect and plug the air line and sit on the floor.I think those seats that you discussed are supposed to be self adjusting/memory types that never work properly,at least the ones i have been around have never.

The cushion is pushing the upper part of the control button . Just rock the switch . I have the same issue, being on the Road Team , I put 70 to 150 young adults in and out of my truck every event. After every "kid" I rock the switch. Just get into the habit is the best advice I can give.

I used my air ride seat for about a year. after that, I just kept it down on the floor. sometime later, the switch mechanism failed, and it stopped being able to dump air. So, anytime you raised the seat, you had to release the airline to get the seat to go back down by 'raising it' with the line off. Not worth the hassle. And honestly more comfortable keeping it down low than bouncing all over.
