Not as dangerous as it sounds heh, we don't break the speed limit or anything. I mean on the rare occasion when you are on a two lane highway next to another trucker at a stop light while empty, do you see if you can beat the other trucker accelerating? lol. I win for the most part but a Walmart truck kicked my ###. These situations do not come up often so I have only done this three times total.

    Shaggy Thanks this.

Son. After 30+ years in a truck there isn't much a driver hasn't done in a truck.:biggrin_25525: We use to drag race from light to light in town w/ triples. 10speeds & 350's.

Ever noticed two bobtails sitting at a red light side by side? Watch them torque the crap out of the cab when that light turns green...all the while refusing to look over at the other truck or make any facial expression to indicate that they are in 7th gear before they clear that light...you won't know whats goin on until you look at the driver in the leads face....that barely perceptible smug grin...

Just curious to see the average truck acceleration speed. I could have done it a lot more but only did it a couple of times to see the difference in power. Kinda like testing out a new car to see what it can do.

Look...I'm all for safety on the road, but lets not pretend we don't occasionally get the wild hair....Don't pretend y'all don't occasionally do things that would raise eyebrows. I myself did it just the other day in Atlanta. I "asked" USX to get out of the truck hammer lane, he refused...so I shot the gap between him and Arnold a truck length ahead in the slow lane.
Was it ill advised and illegal? Yes.
Did I ask politely and give him time to move? Yes.
Did I have somewhere to be? Yes.
Did I have time for a slow roller blockin up traffic? No.
Did I come back over into the truck hammer lane with a smirk on my face? Yes I did...

Somehow, footing the fuel and repair bills takes the fun straight out of this activity for me.

Every time I try to drag race another truck I lose control when my steering axle gets between 5 and 7 feet off the ground and I can't keep it in a straight line.
