I currently work for one of the super big carriers. Went through there school, got my 2 years of garbage pay, and applied to better company. I just got hired to a small company that pays much better and seem like overall nice people. I am going to get my truck in about a week, but they want a long form physical. At major carrier, it was all done in house, so I was going to go to the clinic where I live and get one, no biggy. But, what about the medical card part of it? I am not sure how that works. I just got a physical a few months ago so my current card is still good for a while, but if I have to get a long form physical, might as well update the card?

Thanks for any help guys :D

You can't be issued just the long form, you'll have to pay for another physical.

The company that just hired you will more than likely send you for a physical for them..if you're lucky they'll pony-up for the physical too.... most folks do. Used to be when you applied...you knew that the job was in the bank when the company sent you for a drug-screen/physical...you knew the job was yours as long as the screen and the Dr. OK'd you....in other words if they decided to spend the money to send you to the DR...you were hired.

When I applied, within a few hours I got a text from owner saying I was in. When I was talking to him he said I need long form physical. I am ok with paying for it, there is a clinic right by where I live that does DoT physicals, I'll just go there. I was just wondering about the card. How do I update or get a new medical card? I know I talk to the doctor lady and fill out that paperwork and she does a ton of crap, then I get this like, 3 page medical report. But I don't know how to get the card then. They are also paying for a greyhound to them, but I'm going to fly and they will pay me however much a greyhound is, already verified. 4 hour flight > 22 hour bus ride.

Go to any "occupational medical clinic" and tell them you need a DOT physical and they'll fix you up with the card and form following a lame "checkup".

They are supposed to fill it out and give it to you with the long form physical.

once you give them the long form physical form , they'll more than likely have a Dr. certify you and give you a new card. that's what I'm thinking anyway.
