Hi there:
I'm trying to find out if it's possible to get training and experience with an o/o since I made a mistake at Steven's and broke one of their rules. I failed a breathalizer while at the yard. I wasn't driving I was walking through the building to see my counselor. I have my cdl-a but only got in 10 days and 8,000 miles with my trainer before I was terminated. All the big training companies tell me I have to wait at least 3 years before they'll give me a chance. I would like some advice as I can't seem to find a way to contact o/o's for answers.
Trying to break in

Easy Ed there isn't any company or O/O that will unless you get hired by a outlaw company.Their Insurance Company won't allow it. Seeing an Office Worker is basically On Duty- Not Driving and the Regs say no booze for 4 hours prior to going on duty. I hope this will teach you and others new to driving who read this is if you drink don't go anywhere near the office or drive. Sorry if this sounds harsh , but life quite often is. Here in Calif. they just passed a new law that is any CDL Holder who has a BAC of .01 or higher is legally drunk. Don't get me wrong I have a Class A and like to have a beer now and again. I just don't do go anywhere after 1 beer in any state.

Holy cow! I didn't know that. When did that happen? -
Sounds like you shouldn't even gargle with Scope in California these days.
-
Actually, you can't even have a mouthwash, deoderant or anything else containing even a minor amount of alcohol on the truck. Some cold remedies like NyQuil & similar cannot be on the truck if they contain any alcohol at all.
Screwed up isn't it? -
Maybe Cally should implement those laws across the board. No alcohol in a moving vehicle of any kind. I wonder how far that lead balloon would go?
It wouldn't go anywhere. Truck drivers are powerless politically, so they can be burdened by such ridiculous nonsense. Force middle class computer programmers to adhere by the same laws that are forced on truck drivers and you'll have people rioting in the streets or, worse, voting certain folks out of office.
Do you guys STILL believe trucking is "deregulated"? Please say "NO". What will the truck driver be forced to do next? Fart in a jar? It'd cut down on greehouse gas emissions, so I imagine that law is coming down the pipe in California.
Unfortunately, society has decided that truck driving is now the job for the "whipping boys". These are people who are powerless (by design) and can be abused. If California brags in the future about how low its taxes have become, I will know the DOT ports will be filled with trucks being inspected. These are trucks whose drivers will be fined for having dirty bumpers and too many bugs on their windshields, which will help replace the tax revenue. Except there's one problem: this reality is already here. -
The .01 law went into effect this year and yes the bozos in Sacremento have their heads up their rear end 99.99% of the time. The reason being they are only 2 hours from San Francisco.
-
I believe that on January 1, 2007, Cally passed a law that makes it illegal to leave a dog on a leash unattended. I think San Fran has banned plastic grocery bags. Now they have this BAC law.
What's next? -
The mayor of San Francisco has banned bottled water in all public offices. You must drink tap water by his order.
