I'm a newbie, I live in the 607/Broome County, NY area, and have been wanting to become a truck driver for quite a bit now and I have plans to attend SAGE in Endicott, NY. However, this unfortunate accident happened earlier this morning and I'd like to know how to prevent something like this from happening. Why does it happen???? Could it be lack of sleep or something like that?? I figured the trucking companies would allow their drivers to get a decent amount of sleep so things like this wouldn't happen, right????

Cause wasn't stated... this article only tells that a semi rolled over, who the company was and who towed it.
    End of article.

Rollovers only occur when going too fast around a turn / turning too fast for the speed you're going.
    End of article.

Trucking companies don't set sleep schedules, politicians do. They sit behind a desk and tell trucking companies when their drivers need rest and when they don't.

Too many different scenarios it could of been. Most truck roll overs are driver error somehow, and sleep deprivation is driver error. I don't care what the regs are, or what you are carrying. If you are so sleepy, that you are dozing and driving, it is the drivers responsibility to stop in a safe place and get off the road.

No trucking companies do not care when you sleep, all they care about is getting the load delivered. It is up to the driver, the captain of the ship, to control your sleep.

Roll overs, turned to sharp at speed... could be a steer tire blow out, could be the driver was dozing and dropped off the edge and jerked the wheel, could be he dropped something on the floor, and reached down to retrieve it, and jerked the wheel.... hundreds of possible reasons, most are due to driver error.
