Too much money for to old a truck.
Engine, gearbox and rearend are close to being on their last legs.
Why you think TMC is selling them right now?
For that money you can buy a pumpkin(schneider),rebuilt most off it and still have a little change left.
But then you won't have all that chrome on it and it is the chrome that earns the money. :biggrin_25526:

Yes, can get a good Schneider truck in the $20K price range. Can add a used Tri-Pac APU and lots of chrome and still get out cheaper than the TMC truck. If you like that mid-roof, Schneider has some from their tanker division. Check Schneider's website.

There's two websites I know of that sell used APU's. Don't know which one is best. Both have financing.

The TMC trucks are high milage, but I spoke with several of their service guys that were prepping the trucks for sale, they go through them and if they find something wrong its fixed. The interiors of these trucks are kept very clean by the previous driver, for the specific purpose of selling them. They were doing a full engine rebuild on one truck because it was at 1.4million. TMC's service is meticulous. They purposely route their drivers through a terminal for service when its time. As for as how many miles are on the trucks, well they held onto the 379's longer then they would've because they waited for Cummins to work out some issue with the ISX, at least that is what i was told. They have the new 579's coming in weekly at a rate of 15-20 a week.

I've looked all over two different forums for people who've actually purchased one. One post said his friend has bought several, sight unseen. Seems a lil reckless to me. But you never hear from somebody who's actually purchased one.

yeah if one is going to purchase a pete, might as well gt one with an extended hood. I have always thought that to buy a short hooded pete is short sighted. heck, those tmc trucks have a 250" wb and most extended hoods are around 260" so why not go ahead and get the real deal? you can not use going to tight areas as an excuse over a mere 10"-

just my opinion and i am certainly not opinionated, but why not wait and buy one of tmc's t-800s? they look much better than the short hooded petes if one is determined to buy a shorter wheelbased truck.
