Ok, so I quit my job last month (details don't matter) and I am down to a choice between two jobs to take. Both are local jobs, so I am home every day, but I have concerns about both.

One is with a small fleet owner at nights and some weekends. I have to unload (pallet jacks) and the pay is not as good. Benefits are not great, but I have insurance through the wife's work. The upside is it's dry van and I am working for someone I can get to know easy and seems more flexible.

The other is hauling concrete in a pneumatic tanker. It is five days, Mon-Fri with an occasional Saturday thrown in. The money is better (more than I have ever made, in fact) but I have hauled bulk before and it gets dirty sometimes, the trucks are not the best and I'm not sure what happens in the concrete business when winter sets in.

    So any thoughts?

I'd go with the concrete company. Concrete can be poured in most any temperatures with some precautions and changes in the normal routine. Rain is about the only thing that will stop a pour. You will probably be hauling fly ash also. It's mixed with some concrete jobs to give strength and durability to the concrete.

I ran pneumatics and it does slow down during winter. However you don't get dirty
A little dust is about it. Easy work. Tanks are top heavy so easy on the corners.

Pneumatics means dust along with batch plants. Winter slow downs especial in In. means you don't work.

Fort Wayne. I went ahead and took the cement job. I've always wanted to get on with the DOT driving a snow plow, so maybe this will be my chance.

Well you're in a good area for the snow plow...seem like it snowed up there everyday last winter.
