Seems like mayflies are so thick in areas of the Midwest they appear on radar and can slime a road to the point of becoming a driving hazard:

There's been a few time's I've thought I'd run into a hail storm, only to realize it was a swarm of locusts (which hit with surprising force on the windshield). Anyone else have stories of "bug hazards"?

Back in the spring I hit a swarm of bees. Scared me. I thought someone had fired a shotgun at me. I never saw them until they hit the windshield and didn't know what it was until I noticed 2 or 3 stuck in the w/s wipers.

Around Houston, there are swarms of, for lack of better description... Bird poop bugs. I don't know what they are, but they leave huge greenish poopy looking splats across the windshield and air dam. I seem to run into them near water or swampy areas in dusk or dawn. They make a hellacious mess. North Dakota also coats your truck in trillions of Mosquitos. Our truck looked like it was covered in sandpaper in under three hours of driving between Lewiston and Minneapolis. In Wyoming, there's a beetle I encountered on I-80 in the Summer that made the road super slick when it rained. No idea what those were either, but there were hundreds of them crunching under the wheels.

In Florida it's Love Bugs in the fall. Is horrible! It's so bad they have windshield washer stations at the rest stops.

Definitely. Trainer ran us outta blue juice and didn't tell me. Drove through a very light rain late at night on a back road in Zephyr Hills. Hit wipers. Visibility zero at 55. Still get chills.
