How does this work? My 14 runs out at 20:30 tonight. New Load picks up at 15:00 tomorrow. I have 4.5 hrs left on my 11, shipper is 4 hrs away. I got to my delivery early (16:15) they won't unload me till 19:00 tonight. I checked with them dropped trailer parked in there lot and immediately went to line 2 (at 1630)

If I log 8 hrs in the sleeper does it pause my 14 which would allow me to run 4 more hrs? This way I could take my 10 at the shipper and pick up my load on Friday at 1500? I am wondering cause i would really like to get home early sat. Morning. And the only way i could do is if I can start my clock at the shipper
    at 1500 on friday

Yes, an 8 (or more) hour continuous break pauses your 14. Then you could drive 4 hours to your shipper & take a 2 hour break to regain another 7 hours drive time. Or you could take a full 10 hour break to get a new 11/14

You must be careful if using the 2 hr break...

the 8 hr break is the only one that will extend your 14 hr clock...the 2 hr break afterwards will not extend your 14 hr clock.

in my opinion the split sleeper rule can be dangerous unless you watch your 14 hr clock closely.

I just wanted to take the 8 to pause my 14. Drive 4 hrs to the shipper, then take my 10 to gain all my hrs back

The ones that find themselves in trouble are the ones who like to hang out at every truckers lounge and swap stories about bigfoot, and the easterbunny ....:biggrin_2559:

go to logbook dot com and download the eclipse logging software then play with the scenarios on the graph to see what will work best and legally for you.
