Hi All,
I am going to take my Class A test with a 6-speed synchronized truck. Is it true you cant really grind gears with this type of transmission?
What are the best RPM Levels when down shifting. I would appreciate your knowledge ....Thank you
I started on a ten speed but going to use a 6. Not sure if RPM is same.

A synchro transmission is just like what's in a car. No double clutching required.
-engage clutch
-move shift lever out of current gear and into desired gear
-release clutch
-repeat X6ronjohn Thanks this. -
It's like shifting a car. Just push the clutch in and shift with the clutch depressed. Up shift when the engine tells you but on the 6 speed I think it's like 2100 rpm. Just listen to the engine sound though. Since it's synchronized I'm sure you could even skip gears with no grinding

Wait a minute. YOU sure it is a syncro tranny? What kind of truck is it? FL series?
I've got a truck with a 6 speed and it isn't a syncro.
Yes you can grind gears in a syncro tranny.
