Got pulled over for a level 2 today on AZ 387 just north of Casa Grande. Why is it that after they are done actually inspecting you and the truck it takes almost an hour for the officer to finish up?

He had every last receipt of mine since friday, i figured he was really going to put me through the ringer, he sure tried.

All i got was a warning for unsecured fire extinguisher.

But at a scalehouse sometimes it takes less than 20 minutes for a level two, and a full blown level 1 might take an hour.

What takes them so long when its on the side of the road? Doesnt seem to make a difference what state it is.

normally, all i get are 3's. done in 15 minutes. but my logs on are computer. all nice and neatly printer.

i would imagine some of you on paper. are very hard to read. but then,

I know some DOT Officers will take all of your receipts and match them against your logs. I had one in AL on I 22/US 78 who gave me a level 3, and took my bills, receipts and called the shipper and truck stop to make sure everything matched my logbook. 1:30 later I was finally let go

yeah AL can be a little slow lol my last one I got a 2 on US 82 just out of Tuscaloosa. Tiny 2 lane stretch with only one possible place to pull off. He knew exactly where he was and where I could pull off and I was the one that passed him at just the wrong moment lol only 20 minutes for the actual inspection then another 30 minutes for him to go back to his car and wrap up the paperwork. On elogs so no taking all day reading my book either. Nice enough guy, cordial and professional but #### he held me up for a long time for a clean inspection

Becasue some of us, Richter, need receipts for our employers.
Especially fuel, toll and scale receipts.

If you had any experience, you would know this.

Your right, your employer needs those receipts. Thats why you dropped them in the mail just this morning before you left the truck stop.

You do not have to give a DOT officer receipts of any kind unless he has a court order, Your log book, medical card, driver's license and registration for the tractor and trailer is basically all he is allowed to ask for without a warrant or court order. Now when you refuse, you must realize that you are starting a "war" so if you take this route, be prepared for a "conflict". And as far as a DOT officer or a state trooper calling a shipper, that again falls under a decision by a judge, not by some egomaniac with a badge and a gun.

Or, if like me, your local. You fuel at the end of the day, so the receipts is only going a couple miles down the road. But, yeah....Sorry Trooper, I just mailed them this morning.....
