Ok, I got a speeding ticket in Va in my personal vehicle and I am from Pa, I cannot seem to find the answer to my question. Will I get points on my PA MVR for an out of state speeding infraction being a CDL holder. There is a info sheet from the PA DMV that states...
"Although reported to PennDOT, minor traffic offenses such as speeding, red light, stop sign, etc., will
(NOT) appear on your driving record, unless you are a CDL holder. Points will not be assessed to
your PA driving record when convicted of a point related offense in a DLC member state."

So I understand that YES it will show up on my record, however it seems to be vague about if I'll receive any points.

I should also add that on my ticket from VA there is a section under my info that asks if Def. is a CDL Holder and the officer checked the NO box.

Can anyone help me out here....?

All I can say is my usual advice " FIGHT EVERY TICKET". You never know what will happen tomorrow, and every ticket adds up.

    markopolo1979 Thanks this.

Did you present him with your PA CDL or just a Class C?

That depends on the jurisdiction. If you can fight it by mail, it should say something about it on the ticket. In any case, the ticket should show the name of the court, the address of the court, and the phone number of the court clerk. It is easy to call the court clerk and ask them. If for some reason the phone number is not there, the name and address of the court must be, (otherwise, how could you pay the fine,) and you can look up the phone number. Good luck!

Even a ticket with no points gets to be a hassle when applying to companies. You look much better with a no checked for that section, than to have any ticket listed there.

Had a bogus speeding ticket years ago that I didn't bother to fight because it didn't put points on my license in my home state. Made me look bad for several years having to list one for 14 over, despite never having points.

Ticket a few years ago for not having tags on a trailer I was pulling behind my pickup. No points and only a $60 fine, so I just paid it. Lost count of the number of applications I had to list that one on, then explain on every interview. Would have been worth fighting it just to avoid the hassle.

I've been to court for tickets I deserved. Never had one make it to my license. Well worth my time.

My advice is to fight every ticket, no matter how small it is or how guilty you are.

In Virginia it all depends on how much you re over the limit. I think 15 over or 85 in a 70 is mandatory court appearance. But I would look for a local attorney specializing in CDL ticket defense so that way you re not missing 2 or 3 days of work for court. Keep in mind you re looking at $300-$400 for a lawyer, unless you have a truckers legal plan like I do

They don't check the CDL box unless they charge you with the Fed offence, usually just DOT cert'd cops. So you may be ok.
