So I was following my companies directions to get to a receiver, and in Petersburg, Lincoln, tn I received a $212 ticket for being off a truck route.. I looked around but I can't find if this will go on my license or not. If I get points I may as well fight it, is there any hope for me here?
The he citation is listed as tca 55-8-188 hov lane violation.
the officer didn't know if it goes on my license or not but he said it's a small violation comparatively. He compared it to having a tail light out.. Is this true?
thank you

HOV violation? Huh. That's new if it's not on a truck route. It will go on your MVR, most tickets do, but that is a relatively minor offense. Actually, you may have gotten off pretty easy, because if the road had a weight limit, or size limits, you could have been cited for that. The cop did let you off pretty easy. Was it a state trooper or a local officer?
-
Local cop, should I try to fight it? Maybe get it reduced to a non moving violation?
-
He let you off easy. That summons could have been a lot worse. Fighting it will cost you a lot more than the $212 you're going to pay. If I were you, I would pay the ticket, thank the officer for not throwing the book at you, and chalk it up to experience.
tangerineGT Thanks this. -
Well with the cost of insurance going up it would probably be a lot cheaper in the long run wouldn't it? I didn't see any signs that forbid trucks and my company told me to go that way.. Are you sure it has points attatchrx to it?
-
I didn't get the ticket. I don't know. All I know is that of it's truly a non truck route, he let you off easy.

Let's take your statement "my company told me to go that way," and simply replace the word company with the word gps. As in "my gps told me to go that way." now do you think that would work? If you wan't to fight it then fight it. but sounds like the cop was being nice already, and when the cop shows up in court, and tells the judge that he gave you a break already, ya think your gonna win?
tickets suck, especially when your pretty sure you didn't do anything wrong, and it's a dang hard way to learn that regardless of what happens, if something bad happens it falls on the driver, not the dispatcher, not the company, not the shipper, not the receiver.
best of luck out there Driver, be safe.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
i have had 2 tickets issued by local cops that never showed up on my DAC CSA whatever letters goverment is using today
did show on my MVR
i think a cop has to do an inspection for it to get on your DAC
but maybe just a trucker told me that
I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nightjoseph1135 Thanks this. -
I don't understand this post,as an HOV violation has to do with being in a lane that is restricted to cars or buses with more than 1 occupant.

If you specifically have to go off the truck route to get to the customer, then I would fight it. I've lost count of the number of times I've gone off a truck route on a delivery, especially when taking a container to a residential customer, and in some cases a commercial/industrial customer.
