I have a 2007 volvo 780 cummins engine. I've noticed an air hissing sound when I take my foot off the gas or in between gear changes as I try to pick up speed all the way up to 5th gear change. Has anyone had this problem? If someone could give me insight on this, that would be very helpful.
Thank you,
Dave

Check the hose from your compressor to your intake manifold...... Looks like a water hose
-
Is it coming from your shift knob. Lot of possibilities. Any of your connections could be the source,
-
Hearing it with the window up, down or both?
Hear it at all while stopped? With splitter in either postion?
Also check exhaust for leaks could be hearing the turbo down spooling since its between shifts or letting up. -
Bet your splitter is in the middle. Mine does that time to time. If in high gears take it up more and bet it goes away.
-
Could be the cab suspension leaking off excess air, especially if you get'er rocking

I had a similar noise with the D13. Turned out that one of the EGR tube clamps broke, letting exhaust leak out.
