I'd like to tell him he is so full of himself. He blames her for getting killed because she made a choice and he denies going to sleep, which is what he did. Then to claim it's GODs plan! Maybe it was the devils plan. He should go back to prison for another 10 years for his statements. Too bad I'm not the judge. Makes me angry but he has to live and die with it. My prayers go to the family and will pray for him.

    you ever see them.

    Um wow.

The problem with the trucking industry is that unlike railroads, there is too much competition -- Anne Ferro

A federal survey said 47% of truckers reported falling asleep at the wheel in 2006 (Must have meant all those LTL guys grabbing a nap while parked in day cabs)

    Vito Thanks this.

Wow, that is intense. I can feel for both parties. As drivers, we face that possibility every time we get behind the wheel and as 4 wheelers there is no zero risk. This is part of driving. Was the woman partially at fault, perhaps, was the truck driver at fault? Most definitely. As a truck driver, one has to believe something like this could happen, and the driver clearly let his guard down, especially pulling triples with diminished braking, as it is. I climbed every hill expecting traffic could possibly be stopped on the other side. I certainly don't buy the part about how it was her turn to die, and he just happened to be the one who did it. He's just trying to make himself feel better. I don't blame the woman's husband for being upset one bit, it was the truck driver's negligence that took her life and the driver would feel the same way if it was his loved one that died.

That driver had a Jupiter-sized case of delusional denial going on. Suppose it's the only way he can live with himself. Awful for everyone involved.

BULL. The driver originally reported that he had dozed off, and that's what the evidence supports!

    This "driver" LIES!

This guy doesn't understand the God of the Bible, nor the Bible! Furthermore, he doesn't understand either one any better than he knows how to lie.

While I generally agree with this, and believe me, this kind of thing scares the heck out of me, the driver put himself into this situation. He stated he only got about 3.5 hours of sleep the night before. He needed to consider the consequences of his actions, and he needed to pull over and get some sleep. As long as a driver is well rested, gets his 7-8, there is no way or reason why he would fall asleep at the wheel if he's been driving legally; or, if he's that tired he should have pulled over.

I've been dog tired myself a few times. Said the heck with the load arriving on time and pulled over for an hour and slept. It made a big difference. I made the loads on time too.

This case is a LOT like the Walmart driver who ran into Tracy Morgan. Improper sleep BEFORE going on duty...

I imagine lots of guys out there don't take rest seriously enough and drive around all day groggy. Staying sharp and focused will definitely keep people alive.
