Hi guys. I need some advice.

I was was driving down a country road at the speed limit of 55 mph. There were no stops on this road for me. It was a straight shot to the freeway. As I am driving down this road, I see headlights out of the corner of my eye. There are no stop signs for me. I approach an intersection and everything looks fine. There's no stop sign for me but a stop sign for cross traffic. My tractor clears the intersection and as I am clearing the intersection I look to my right and see a vehicle approaching the intersection. I think to myself , that they are traveling too fast. Just a split second later it feels like a bomb went off in my trailer and I pull over to the shoulder.

My tractor cleared the intersection but The driver ran the stop sign and drove straight into my back trailer tandems as I cleared the intersection. Her car is completely totaled but she survives without any major injuries. Driver is taken away by ambulance. Driver stated they fell asleep at the wheel. I am not cited.

I understand that I am not at fault but is this preventable? What effect can this have on my career.

I would'n't think its preventable. But be prepared to talk to safety once you get back to the terminal, they may ask why was u on the county road was that part of the routing solution?

Non preventable but like patttj said some companies will say it is because you weren't meant to be there. Depending on who you work for

Already met with safety. He was understanding. My company isn't holding me responsible. Then I had to go peepee in a cup. It was hard at first but the nurse helped me out. Ha, if I don't laugh about it I will cry about it.

The mega carriers mainly the starter ones have a routing solution maybe the op isn't with a mega carrier.Alot of carriers require you follow their routing or get approved to take a different route.
