10-24 today, I was terminated by Swift here in Sumner WA after 9 months. 17 months with Stevens and I quit. First jobs I ever had in trucking. Didn't know about DAC report actually clearing you to be hired when I was in CDL school. Start rolling your eyes and hold your criticisms over the next part. 4 preventable from Stevens and 2 with Swift. If I cost Stevens money, it was preventable. Stuck in a snowdrift south of Scipio UT 1-1-13 and needed a tow (Navigo said to take x284 to get to Flyn J)..no damage to truck or trailer..that was preventable. Right turns and backing up into NE trooper ( not cited due to obstructed view) are the others. Swift says after right turn (following handwritten instructions ) scraped traffic pole and getting hit from behind (5-6' right of solid white line 11 miles S of Gillette..parked with hazards/head/marker lights on making a phone call to receiver, suped up work pickup crashed his right rear cowlingover duel tires against my left corner trailer taking his right outside tire and panel and my left rear tandem tire denting my rim and hhis...trooper didn't cite me..nobody hurt..other guy admitted fault) plus latest Critical event (sensors went off during rapid slowdown due to deer), Swift said too much too soon...bye. I was told after rear end one more accident and that would it. Didn't say Critical Event. Hitting that deer would have been #3 and bye...so the hard brake..and out the door.So I need advice. Not "change your career " advice...55 years younguns ain't getting hired. Gordon will look at my application and let me know next week. If they say yes...miracles do happen. But if they decline.1. Should I fight the firing at Swift seeking DOT's help? They said Accident not Critical event.2. Who/what company can you say would hire me? Swift says the two accidents are internally recorded, but I don't trust them. Cost them $ and insurance companies don't like paying. Again hold your harshness for yourself please. I got bills due and my income just stopped and I'm scared. Thank you for your time.

You have no chance on fighting Swift. They fired you for cause and a valid reason. Look at companies that don't use DAC reports, mostly small companies.

Forget Swift for now, keep applying for driving jobs, plenty of companies will hire. In 3 months Swift will be calling your offering big dollars to get you back.

If all these incidents are on your DAC then a company that uses DAC probably won't hire you...insurance and all that...so as stated look at the small guys.

We need to know the general region you are located in.

Maybe there is a major city near you that has a newspaper that is hiring? Or how about a beverage company, trash haulers, furniture delivery, lumber yard.......

Look at freight companies in your area.

6 preventables, 2 years? DAC check or not, any future employment verification (from another carrier to Swift and Stevens) is going to have these incidents noted most likely. Maybe trucking is not your true calling.

And if you manage to get on with somebody who doesn't do employment background checks, then they will deserve what, sooner or later, they will seem to have coming to them.
