I am a pretty lazy guy so the only thing I care about is getting a camera that I can easily set up, switch to different trucks, and operate.

I do not care much about price or picture quality.

I just want something I can set up and forget about. Any suggestions?

    gopro
    10' mini-usb to usb cable
usb 12v adapter to plug in to cigarette lighter
    64gb sdhc memory card
    gopro frame mount
    windshield suction cup

it will run 13 hrs 10 mins straight in 720p mode. then you have to erase the card and start over.

You don't care about picture quality? Why even get one then. If it's not producing clear video you are wasting your $$$.

My cobra one was cheap and easy to use. Got it set so it looks Purdy on my puter.

Any true dash cam is easy to use. You basically set its settings as you want them, mount them, plug them in, switch them on, and forget them.

I use the Lukas LK-7900 with a 128GB memory card (http://dashboardcamerareviews.com/lukas-lk-7900-ace/) as it allows for more than 24 hours of video in high resolution in addition to its protected memory for in motion G events, parked G events, and parked motion events. There are lots of dash cams to choose from and more come out every day it seems, I picked the one that I did because of its high resolution, support of very large memory cards, good night time recording, built in GPS, and its ability to run in very high temperatures.

A true dash cam will automatically switch between park and driving modes so there really isn’t much to do with them once you get then setup. With mine it also has a motion sensor that will start a brief recording when it senses movement in its line of site in addition to when it senses a G event when in park mode. You set its sensitivity for the motion and G events when first setting it up and can just let it run after that.

I like GoPro’s a lot but they are not designed as a dash cam and lack many features that a dash cam offers. Some of those features are a park mode that records motion and G events to a separate protected memory, recording G events while driving to a separate protected memory, and GPS position and speed recorded on the video. Some of those can be added to a GoPro but require additional hardware to be interfaced with the GoPRo and is not a simple setup like you asked for.

    silver dollar Thanks this.
