On my day off todAy I decided to drive to the local library and donate plenty of college books that are taking up space. While driving there, I drove on the double yellow lines to get to the left lane. Whoop whoop. Recieved a 4point ticket. Have a clean license since I was 17. Now 27. Hired a attorney already to get the points reduced to O. recently got my CDL in September and I am in training as a driver at a local company.

How bad will this effect me getting a job in the near future if the current employer decides to terminate me?

Good move on the attorney. Fight all tickets if you can. It's nothing against you until you are convicted. Then be honest with your company.

Nah, your post makes no sense at all. You got a ticket for improper passing, but you didn't pass anybody? Hell, I'd fight that all the way too!

Of course when you say you "drove on the double yellow lines to get to the passing lane," that sort of makes it sound like you were driving in the left turn lane BEFORE it became a left turn lane. That is a good way to have a head on, with a driver who is entering the street and clearing oncoming traffic from one direction while waiting to go another direction.

For heaven's sakes, I can see it exactly but I'm having a hard time putting it into words. . .:biggrin_25513:

You sir, are an outlaw and a hazard to public safety!

I don't think this will effect you all that much, if at all, actually.

You can only get to the double yellow lines AFTER you are already in the far left lane.
It really sounds like reckless driving to me. You changed lanes much too quickly and didn't control your vehicle, so you crossed over the double.

And, I really don't want you driving around me if you are that careless.

Go back to basic drivers school, and get some perspective.

You're pretty vague about the circumstances, but it seems you committed the so-common-it's-nearly-universal 4-wheeler error of measuring travel by motor vehicle in seconds and feet if not fractions thereof.

Maybe driving for a living is not your thing...
