National Safety Council’s Accident Review Committee

    How will John Doe The Company Truck Driver contest a preventable accident determination to The National Safety Council’s Accident Review Committee..

    Accidents: John Doe, The Company Truck Driver whom gets involved into a Big Truck accident. Then Carrier states, it was a preventable accident. Now hit with a preventable accident warning from Carrier but the driver feels like it wasnt his fault.

    Does anyone have knowledge on The procedures to request such a review?

    I hope that someone this involves, has at least tried contacting the organization. There should be a way to rebutt the findings?

    Did you look it up and see if it comes under the preventable accident criteria ?

    This is what was identified to get an accident reviewed by

    NSC Accident Review Committee / Board


     Preventability decisions must be communicated in
    writing to the driver(s) involved and the driver’s direct
    supervisor.

     The Corporations (Carrier) decision by their accident review committees interpretation on the accident events
    is final and must be supported by all levels of
    management.

    (The NSC review)
     It is a corporate (Carrier) decision if appeals are allowed and it is
    recommended that they be allowed only if additional
    facts are revealed that were not known at the time of the
    initial decision. The appeal can be made through the
    committee, the Trucking Associations or the National
    Safety Council or other impartial groups.

    If, the info is incorrect please take the time out and post. But, if your Company participates, they will promote the alternative. Otherwise, the NSC accident review is not an available option.

    Yeah, Jerry, I do not know which applies to the situation that is needed (but I'll at least think it is #3). Has the safety dept finalized the decision? Is there a "re-buttle time frame"? One other avenue is to check the CSA score for the person and company involved? Earlier I had tried to get into the Safety Council site, but I would have had to become a member to get further, and so I stopped at that point, only because it might cost money. Keep trying yourself for more information. You have the weekend to find out.

    ...eh, i was reading some posts on other drivers being involved in accident and was wondering how to empower them...solely esoteric
