I'm just finishing my training and have offers from Werner and US Express. Any advice on which way to go? Not my offers because I'm only 21. Any advice is welcome

With either company, you will be taking the truck home, so start looking now for a place to park it. Both are (in my opinion) low on my list of companies to work for, but then again, many people are working at each, and maybe for many years as well. Compare pay, and benefits. When it comes to pay, how much per mile are they offering? How many days off are they offering when you travel x number of miles each week? You will of course have to go out with a trainer, but once you do well enough and pass any tests he and the company gives you, a truck should be assigned to you, then you are pretty much on your own. You may stay out longer than expected, so "just do it" and keep quiet about it. Start complaining about your time on the road, and they may just make you stay out longer, to make you up and quit.

the last thing you ever want to do is up and quit, under a load. so for newbies, "do your time" gracefully and move on, or stay with them.
    Best of luck to you.

I always recommend tankers, but if you want reefers, then after a year experience look at Holland Enterprises or Lessors Inc.

Here's some more companies that hire at 21 yrs. old:

    Halvor Lines
    Navajo Express
    H.O. Wolding
    Pride Transport
    TransAm
    Southern Refrigerated Transport

I'm really hoping I can find a company were there isn't much downtime and where they will always have a load ready for you. The way it seems tho that's hard to find

USX in my area has a ton of dedicated accounts. Maybe after you get trained you could work your way into one of those deals.
The first year is always the hardest. Tough it out and then work your way up.
    Good luck!

I've decided to go with U.S Xpress Dollar General account. It is a very physical job. Its 100% hand unload. I get 2 days off a week no matter what. I can not complain to much my biggest problem is getting in and around the very tight areas you have to get into too unload. Some of the stores are very easy to unload at and others are no so easy. So far I have not brought home less than 900$ a week. I have aload 95% of the time for the next day depending how far out I am from the DG DC which is in Marion, IN. Like I said very physical job unloading wise but im young im in fairly good shape doing this definitely gets you into shape. Im being treated very well and all im going is just trying my best and wanting loads and just staying ahead and doing that you will get along just fine with your FM.
