Recently a guy I know went through the windshield of his tractor and today I saw this pic in the local rag. Sorry it may be small but I'm sure you can zoom if you want.

The point is WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!

When your truck starts bouncing around either on or off road, you will be a human ping pong ball inside of it. If you're lucky, you won't end up outside the vehicle being run over by it!

You'll only have a severe head ache like this driver!

I went from the back seat of a car, took out the passenger seat with a buddy in it and proceeded to go through thr windshield and hit the RV with my body that ran the red light. Driver lived, I lived, my buddy in front passenger seat.. also no seat belt like me.. died.

My brother was also in a car accident when he was 14. He is 42 now and has been confined to a wheel chair and dependant on me for support since he turned 18.

So yes.. I am a staunch supporter of seat belts.

Agreed, I always laugh in the face of people that don't wear them and have convinced themselves that even if they saw it coming that they could "hold on"...SURE they can! What's scary is that people have to be forced by law to wear them. I've got a wife and kid I'd like to go home to!

    Why do we need seatbelts?

Because it's the only safety device we have. Big trucks don't protect the cabin the way modern automobiles do. We don't have crumple zones or airbags (unless you're in a volvo).

I would not be here if it were not for the seat belt I was wearing when I rolled my truck, exactly one year ago today , well at 430 this afternoon. Dont move till it clicks.

Their should be no nanny law requiring adults to use safety belts. Company Policies say have to use them, That's the adults decision not to work for that employer. Kids should buckle up in every vehicle.

Personal Vehicle. Pound sand. Americuh and others trying to dictate your personal freedom F&*^&*^ YEAH !:biggrin_25526:

I agree, even though I buckle up we shouldn't be forced. But this law is yrs old no since hashing over it,nothing we can do but let the government run our lives for us because we're not capable of doing it.What I would like to know is in that photo the op posted, what would cause that truck driver to crush that 4 wheeler.Doubt even a seal belt saved that drivers life.

I would agree with you IF there was a law that said you forfeit all access to public funds should you end up permanently disabled as a result of your decision to not wear a seat belt. But there is no such law and more often than not when some dipstick ends up a slobbering vegetable in a wheelchair because he didn't want to wear a belt, my tax dollars end up paying his rent and doctor bills the rest of his life. For me, its not about dictating your personal freedom, its about me not wanting to pay your medical and living expenses because you chose to be an idiot and ignore very compelling safety data.
