I have been driving along the border for a while between Laredo and Del Rio a few times and every time I end up passing at least half a dozen four wheel vehicles doing maybe 30-40 mph over the whole trip. It is just along the border that I see folks driving like this, no where else. They even know how slow they are going because they will usually pull over along the shoulder to let regular drivers pass them easily.

Is this how all drivers are in Mexico and it is just a culture thing?

Yes. I just returned from 2 months riding in Mexico and C. America. Can't speak to the driving slow thing as they drive all different speeds in Mexico. But I can say that the culture there is to pull off into the shoulder and get out of the way when you are being overtaken. They did the same thing in Guatemala.

Another interesting thing they do down there is when the road up ahead is clear to pass and you are behind them trying to get around, they will put on their left blinker to indicate it is clear to pass. The semi's and buses do this as well. However, it depends on the circumstances. Because sometimes the left blinker can mean they are making a left hand turn or they forgot to turn their blinker off. I also noticed that the semi's down there are more aggressive in passing slow cars because down there the biggest vehicle wins.

    In a hurry?

    No way Jose!

Why anyway? Who cares about that place you're going anyway...I like those ppl. Slow paced it can wait lifestyle.

Now only if they would speak English and say screw their old country. Like the rest of us that live here. God dang that's annoying....

No team USA now...everywhere else sucks. No Hispanic nights only American nights.

Try driving in Brazil for thrill ride. They all think they're formula one drivers. On coming traffic will pass knowing full well they can't make it. It forces you to drive on the shoulder to avoid a head on. I spent a year there in the late 80s and never could warm up to that maneuver.
