Do you think schools should score and inform students about prospective carriers

I believe this should be done in order to inform more people exploring options in this industry, Im not saying to influence anyone, but the most common reason newbies are screwed over is because they didnt know and are not well informed of the options and consequences, we all know a carrier will lie to you.

So, to help inform people of possibly making a big mistake should schools have a carrier score and all the information based on their programs. In full detail of odds of making it, what it takes to make it and the total breakdown of how you can make it. Especially with these lease carriers.

But I really do believe the only way to get informed is from the start. School is it. Give them the honest information for them to view in their own time so it can allow them to research better to hopefully avoid allot of mistakes with some of these bottom feeder carriers.

And remember, this is only to HELP student research better the carrier options. It is all about the students success isnt it?

Yes, and carriers should prefer that if they are any good. Only the bad ones would be opposed to that.

How would a person even know anything outside of what a carrier tells them. They are just livestock buyers at an auction where 85% of the folks have no real research tools or info. to view.

Problem is there's a million different carriers, even after good research and checking out these forums it would still be tough for most to narrow it down. Only reason I could narrow mine down was because it's specialized(dry bulk) and a much more limited amount of companies are involved with it.

I know the school I am going to when I talked to her she handed me a bunch of brochures from different companies before I left. She know I had researched before hand and wanted to do dry bulk but open to flatbed, tanker, car hauler, etc if the money is right. She hand a huge stack of Swift, Werner, CR England, etc pamplets and without hesitation skipped right over them and gave me Maverick, Prime, Schneider, etc. Pretty much says it all right there lol

So she gave you material from carriers that you may or may not have even known about. And you researched accordingly for your best options based on the materials and different web searches. Thats great! Well I believe schools should offer every carrier possible as an option to students, but with all the proper information both good and BAD! No sugar coating for every student can research properly to make their decision.

    Create a score yourself.

End of the day...just excuses I see.

Quit being a thumbsucking noobie and do the homework before going in.
    No surprises.

    My vote stays no stranger

Well I did a lot of research before hand and knew about Prime & Schneider , BUT I never heard of Maverick before, never even heard them mentioned in these forums very much, but their pay is higher than most starter companies! So yes she did help with that, also she gave me(can't remember name off the top of my head) a local car hauler company that takes newbies and pay starts out very well. I never would of known of them without her help.

Chinatown helped me out a lot with dry bulk companies to look into so I bugged them all and plan to work for one of them when I finish school.

I think students also should figure out what they want beforehand too. The unique thing about trucking is how many different things you can do Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Food Grade Tanker, Oil/Gas/Water hauling, Chemical Tanker, Cattle Hauling, Car Hauling, Dry Bulk, Belly Dump, etc I think having an idea of what you actually want to do helps as it narrows down what companies you should look at. I.e If you want haul cars then you can eliminate a good chunk of companies that don't haul cars.

NO, and here is a reason or two. Some schools get "funding" in some way from some trucking companies. Some Get trucks and trailers believe it or not. Now I know of one school in particular that has a truck from Werner, and we all know Werner is not the greatest, right? SO how would it look then if the school boasted Werner, student goes there and gets screwed over?

I seriously cannot think of ANY school for ANY industry or career path that has such a "report card" on potential employers.
