I transferred my CDL to TX back in 10/13. I filled out the self certify form and all that. I took a break from driving for awhile but got back into it this past October (2014). The company required me to take a new physical and get a new medical card.

Here's my question. The medical card I had previously was a 2 year card that was valid through 10/2015. Do I need to give TX this new medical card I got? I realize I should have gone to the DMV on my first home time and updated it, but it didn't even occur to me at the time and now I'm worrying that there might be a limited time frame from the date of issue to get it updated. I can't find any info about this on the TX DMV web site. I'm concerned if I go to the DMV with the new(ish) card, they'll say I didn't update it soon enough and now my CDL will be downgraded. Anyone have any experience with this?

I know the simple solution is to just call them and ask, but...well, figured I'd ask here first.

    Thanks

I would say just take the newer up there. The only way they down grade you is if you have one expire, and not renew it. The way I read this yours never expired you were just required to get a new one for the new job.

Easier to take it to them now then possibly forget later on. I know in Pa if it lapses even a day they downgrade you and you have to retest for your CDL

Also I would check it out online. Because here in MD you can and are required to have it registered with your license with the expiration date. The good thing about that is you don't have to carry the card with you everytime you deal with MVA/DMV issues because its in the system and you can print out a confirmation. Now the only down side is they made a law that any new Med. Cert. will have to be done by pre-approved DOT certified physicians. For example I'm going to have to find somebody other than my family dr.
