Hi truckers report this is my first time posting here.My wife and I have been hauling produce out of ca usually to southeast and back. we both have our license and are trying to take it up a notch by purchasing a used rig and getting our own authority. The only problem is that lone mountain leasing the company we are looking into getting our truck from is telling us that in order to release a truck to us we must have had our authority for over a year otherwise run under someone else's authority 1 year then we will be OK to use our own. Lone mountain is not the typical leasing company they are not a carrier only a deaership. So I talked to the owner of the company im at now and he agreed to only let me use his authority and insurance to get the truck off the lot and home. He does not want to lease me on to his company even though ive been there 4 + years. My wife is getting ready to open her own authority and getting quotes for insurance now, so if we bring the truck home what can the truck leasing company do when they find out authority and insurance was switched? The certificate holder is Cresco capital so I'm sure that it will be reported and they will find out right away. I'm assuming they won't allow this because of my financial risk? I have money for down payment, authority, ins. Down payment, plates, and $2500 for breakdown so with the little help of the owner I hope to go far. Any positive help is appreciated.

You would be violating the terms of your lease which means they could repo the truck, keep all your payments, & ruin your credit.

Anyone actually deal with lone mountain? is there any way around this? Why wouldn't the owner want to lease me on?

You can get financing with bad credit through Cardinal Logistics. Down payment is $2000.00 and you haul their freight.

Fikes Truck Line has a program also to help you become an 0/0. This isn't a lease program, it's a purchase program. Call and ask about it.

Being leased to someone else and paying for the insurance for a year to keep your authority active would be the fast track to bankruptcy court. I don't know what your lease calls for from Lone Mountain but I would think as long as you make your payments on time they wouldn't have cause to cause you any trouble. The change of insurance would surely be reported but if you carried your physical damage insurance through the original carrier and then carried your trucking liability through the company of your choice, the lender would not be involved in that transaction and would not be notified. Check with your friend who is helping you get the truck off the lot and see if his insurance company will let you carry your bobtail insurance through them for the next year and you will be all set.

Stay put where you are and don't jack yourself up. Hard times are coming soon. Don't make it any harder then it needs to be on yourself.
