They did. The have no truck signs on the NC side and the TN side now. It's illegal to take a truck over 30' on the Dragon now.

Would you really want to travel that road in a semi?

It's a lot of fun in a fast car..... Lol. Don't know if I'd want to do that in a truck.

Id love to try my skill there...in a car like you suggested.

Even if it wasn't illegal, and according to my atlas it is, there are some things you just shouldn't do.

It didn't used to be until recently. The people who frequented Deal's Gap petitioned and screamed to get the Dragon banned for trucks. Remember, it's a U.S. highway. Trucks should absolutely never be on that stretch of road, over 300 curves in 11 miles, no room for two trucks to pass each other, hell, no room for a truck and a motorcycle to pass. Some drivers actually complained, calling it "government nanny state" and blah blah blah. They've obviously never driven it. I drove it in a car, and it's a fun drive. Good times at both ends, too.

Ride the dragon on a motorcycle alot and it is dangerous on a bike when you meet a truck and several have been killed meeting one in a curve. I signed the petition and glad trucks are banned, dangerous for the truck drivers who drive it as well. Google vidoes of trucks on the dragon pretty crazy.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm glad semis were banned from that stretch. ...there's videos on there which show why it's so dangerous. My uncle claims to have gone on that road in his semi, but also said he had to cover up the GPS receiver to block the signal so his dispatch was clueless.

Some US and state highways make me wonder how safe it really is for us to be on. And I only run in the southeast. I imagine the west coast has worse.

    Chaps Thanks this.
