    Hi everyone,

Anyone drive these? Wondering what the difference is and if the TC10 is all it's cracked up to be.

Big difference between the TC10 and the automated manuals is the TC10 is a true "automatic" transmission with a torque converter. The automated manual transmissions are computer-controlled manual transmissions with a clutch.

Never driven or worked on either so I can't offer any insight there. However, if the Allison TC10 turns out to be a reliable transmission I would be interested in it much more so than an automated manual. I believe all shifts in the TC10 are completed with the torque converter locked so once you get going there is no power loss through fluid coupling. I'm sure the starts are smooth and quick and fuel efficient since it can take constant power without having to cut the throttle to shift.

I drive a Volvo for a company that has Volvo Ishift, Freightliners with 2pedal autoshifts,
Frtlnrs with 3pedal autoshifts and 18 speed manuals.
I love my Ishift and our Volvos get the best mileage, and have the best service records .

I've been dying to try one, but they are only good for 80,000 gvwr and I haul 140,000. I've been thinking about their 4700RDS 7 speed, everyone says as long as you change the fluid regularly then they are bullet proof.
