Yesterday 07:30 AM. I was bumping along ~60-62 mph. I hit the brakes as much as I dared but I didn't have much time to react. He just grazed the RF corner of my stainless bumper. Scratched it only. It's a good bumper. What saved him was his tail end swung out instead of him staying broad side to me. There was a passenger in the truck and he's a lucky guy. Nobody was hurt.
This is from the dash cam view. Skip ahead to ~12:05

This is the view from my new rear facing cameras. Driver side is on viewer's left and pass side on viewer's right. If you freeze it you can see he almost rolled that pickup over when he went into the ditch. He's also lucky there was no guard rail there or else he would have bounced back into the trailer. How did he pull that off? Looks like good (or at least decent) conditions, and the car that passed shortly before had no problem....

Holly crap. I've been collecting clips off my cam. The additional camera views adds so much to the story.
RedForeman Thanks this. -
Probably had one too.
Yup, a picture is worth a thousand words... or more. -
The only thing I can figure (from looking at the driver side camera) is that he looks like he got into the slush on the left shoulder. Then he probably over corrected to the right + summer tires + no weight in the back of a pickup + 70-75 mph = trouble -

Veteran driver. No braking, didn't cut the wheel, didn't stop, leave the Darwin winners in the ditch and keep on truckin. Looks like a good day.
Straight Stacks and rank Thank this. -
And 90 minutes later I was getting inspected by NY State's finest. At least I was able to show my previous inspection report so he only did a level 3. Good day indeed -
Straight Stacks, wore out, not4hire and 1 other person Thank this.

I pulled over at the on ramp to check for damage. Hands on the CB said they were both out of the truck trying to push it back on the highway so I left. I called the ins co and the detachment the next AM to tell them upon further inspection I think we may have touched and I don't want a hit and run. Cop said not..... 'We wrote it up as a one vehicle accident no injuries."
