Exclamation Need help quick

Starting a new outfit tomorrow.. first time to drive as a non O/O... not digging it at all but thats neither here nor there. The problem is, I've been shifting a straight 10 for 4 years. Got a call tonight telling me I will be back in a pete and not a Freightshaker, but the Pete has a super 10.. will that be a problem? "No" I reply.. but now I am 2nd guessing myself. I drove with a Super 10 once and hated it... now I am hella thinking about it and I can't remember if the pattern is the same as a straight 10, just split every gear or is it different and I just can't remember... HEEELLLLPPPP!!!! I don't want to jerk the tranny out on my 1st day here!!!

You'll only shift the lever five times, but you make a split in each shift. You'll get the hang of it after a while. Super 10 and a reverse high gear 15 will mess your shifting up.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to all this tomorrow. I'm pretty set in my shifting habits. I see alot of grinding coming on.

We have one super 10 at the school and after one day in it, I can honestly say Id rather drive a super 10 than a straight 10. Good luck!

Yeah! After a whole day with it and not just griping and moaning about it as well, I really like the super 10 now! Its a smooth smooth shifting tranny. Upshifts and downsifts, even on hills. 20x less work after you get used to it!

Good for you.

I'll still take my 13. I never cared for the super ten myself.

Don't sweat it brother, I am always getting stuck with a super 10 but never enough to get totally used to it, I know the guys that use them all the time swear by them, so if You will be in it all the time get ready to fall in love with it, But like people told me when I was nerveus about getting in a sleeper after being in day cabs all my life, You are a truck driver, You already know how to adapt to adverse situations wheather You know it or not, so get in that truck and drive it like the professional that You are! And if You let that truck Drive You then shame on You.. Go Get em' and by the way I passed my test with that company with flying colors, and with a sleeper, and in a volvo to boot which I have never been in ever, the freakin tranny was so close I had to be careful not to skip 3 gears LOL and the pedals were so close together I hit the throttle and brake at the same time comming off a ramp, but I recovered, the poor guy with me was like whoa what was that I didnt realize what it was either untill I did it again, then he said thats why I dont drive theese and that put me at ease.. Nice job from him at the end,,
Then the other day an owner op friend of mine needed help told me the tractor was in his yard and to get it pick up a load at general mills and take it to jersey, I get to hid house and the tractor is one of thoes internationals that use to be an american van lines truck, I honestly think the sleeper was 110" holy moly, dont get me wrong it was beautiful but big had a bath and everything, 32" plasma.. ANy how got in hooked up to a 53" reefer and on my way I went, took my time and drove that truck by the time I got to my pick up I backed in sight side to my door 118 between a smith truck and another oo, I did me proud,, so have no fear and grab the reins and kick it,
Good Luck
SAFETY FIRST!!!
