Hey Folks, just an update here. I has posed that i was in school and i wanted to impress my teacher, and i got the pretty much had the same responce from everyone, " go to school, learn, say little, and pass "
Well, i took most of that advise the way it was given, I went to school everyday, never missed a day of school, and was late only 1 time, and it was only 20 mins late. So i just want to let everyone know that as of today 2-29-08, i have 4 days of school left, I have to take a few test this week.
the test are :
1. 1 rd test for the school, which ill prob do Monday.
2. the 108/AirBrakes, Ally Doc, and Straight Line Backing, STATE test which should be done tuesday
3. And the STATE rd finial test which cant be done untill after i complete school.
We get taken out on Rd. trips 15 of them, we get graded on a 17 different things, and on a scale of 1-5, 1 being the worse, 5 being the best. when we go out on our first rd trip, we are only getting 1's, clearly cause its our first Rd. by the 3rd-6th rd trip we should be pulling all 3, and poss even some 4's. from the 7th-9th again should be all 3's and some added 4's,. and from 10th-15th there SHOULD be nothing less then all 4's, and we cant rule out getting 5's. based on what the staff at school says, its hard to get 5's. However, taken the advise givin to me from here, by my 8th rd trip i already got my 1st 5 on my chart, as of Wed this past week i had a total of six 5's on my chart, im the only onle in my class that had gotten that amount of 5's, there are maybe 2-3 more students that got maybe 1 or 2 5's on there chart. I went to school everyday, i would joke around and have a good time, all while learning, also i was always the first one to step up and say i dont think i can pull the manuver off. In the end i always ended up passing with room to spare.
I just want to thank everyone for their imput telling me to go in, shut up, listen, learn, and pass, and for anyone els that is going to school, i would feel really good telling you all the same, Go to school, listen, focus on the learning, ask for help, dont think you can do it, go to take your test, fail, and get pised at your teacher, cause its your own fault, you should have spoken up in the first place. Manuevring those trucks are no jokes, it will be scary the first time your on the rd. if you dont feel comfy doing it, THEN DONT, dont put your life or the instructors life in danger, and dont forget about the live's of the people driving, walking, riding all around you. Iv now had my tranning for 6 months, and i feel as tho i am ready to head out into the real world, and get scared again, cause i wont have my instructor next to me. but knowing that this is what i have always wanted to do, and knowing that i have learned from some of the best, i feel confident in myslef that i am prepared to take on the " Real Deal "

Soon2betrucking, I am glad to read that you are doing well. I have been in and around trucking since the age of 10 and I still don't know it all. I would like to say that the envirnment that you are currently in is completely different than the "real world" envirnment that you will soon be getting into. If I may, I would like say a couple things that might be helpful. First, don't take for granted that since "it was ok yesterday, it should be ok today" (i.e. tires, belts, oil, water, hoses, lugnuts, etc.). Even after your unit has been pm'd, mechanics get in a hurry too. Second, don't be afraid to slow down. Third, your cdl is going to pay your bills, don't do anything that will jeopardize this. Even if you are home and taking your better half out for the night, drinking and driving don't mix. And finally, after 2 or 3 years of driving you are going to feel that you are really good at this "truckin' thing". LOSE THAT THOUGHT! It's not that you won't be good but this is when you will get over-confident. Unfortunatly with our chosen profession it only takes one "brain-fart" and we might end someone elses life. Always try and keep an even keel. Good luck and I, like many others, are always willing to help if you need it.

hey, i like the words there, those words and many many many other words were told to us on an everyday rutien at school, school told us that this is one of the best prfessions to be in, they talked about all the great plus sides to it, BUT, they also told us many many many horror stories about the life of a trucker. Id like to bileave that i have **SOMEWHAT** prepared myself for some of the best experience and for some of the worse experience's ever, i no that ill never no what to expect, but that comes with living life everyday.
My plans are this, * 5 Year Plan * Talking to the great people here, and to truckers at truck stops, and the truckers in my family, everyone tells me that the best thing to do is give myself a 5 year plan, im 22, not married and no kids still live at home, well im ready to take what ever is givin to me, i like a good challenge, i like a good hard time, and im ready for it all

ha, nope no swift school, a private school, expensive school.

hey folks, just a quick update, yesterday ( 3/11/08 ) i took my CDL State test, passed, and did a great job if i say so myself, i wasnt even nerves,
time to put the peddle to the metel and look for a job,
im being to picky with companies, im 22, and want to flatbed, anyone no any good companies in the NE Region ??

I found out yesterday when i got my MVR from school that when i got pulled over it went on my record! im not very happy at all! I summited about 8 apps already to some of the better companies, Hunt, Roehl, Crete to name a few, and after discovering this information i had to let them no that i had that moving violation back in 2005, it was in november, and they told me that they wont even look at me cause i did more then 15 over the limit,
school should have notified me and let me no that something was up with my record, and didnt, and now to those companies i look like a lier, just goes to show that you learn from your mistakes, some mistakes harder then others, but when it comes to CMV's and CDL's its even harder of a mistake, im now looking at Swift for there flatbeding division, they'll take me, i spoke with a recruitor yesterday and put an app in, soo will see. but if ANYONE has any ideas about any companies in the North East region please please take a moment and reply and let me no, please,
