Anyone else stuck in Denver waiting for the mountain to clear today?

I'm sitting here at the Denver West TA waiting to hear some good news about the situation near the Eisenhower tunnel. I made it to Georgetown this morning and got turned around by a cop.

I have chains, but the company I work for doesn't want me to use them. In other words... Sit till it gets better.

I was just curious to see if anyone else is here doing the same thing today.

..if you or your co. wants to move freight, take I-25 to I-80 and go west, or drop down from I-25 to US160 and go west (if Wolf Creek Pass is open), or if not, then drop all the way down and run I-40 west to deliver your freight---if your co. wont let you do 'any of that,' then screw the freight!"

well, therein lies the problem. Of course they want the freight moved, however, I really can't divert off I-70 as I will be getting off just after the Eisenhower tunnel and going to a mining company in Silverthorne, CO off SR 9.

Unfortunately, it seems that I'll be here for the duration. the owner of the company said that he'd rather that none of his drivers chain up. basically said that if it is dangerous enough to chain up, don't move.

Go Figure..........

Yes, he is right and should be commended for that decision! I've thrown chains many times in my younger and more foolish days, but dont do now! My trainer (34 yrs driving experience) said, 'you only chain to get out of bad weather, NOT go in!" And like everything else he taught me, he was right!! No freight (unless medical supplies with somebody dying on the other end!) is worth the risk of 'just' freight!! Good luck, JAM

I know w you mean.

I have a few years under my belt, however, this is my first run with this company and I wanted to impress them a little

I really didn't want to chain up today, but would have to get the load done.

FYI. It's a load of 4.5" steel grinding balls. Loaded loose in a 40' frameless dump trailer. Not exactly life or death stuff here

As far as the company goes... They are very very strict on safety violations and logs. In fact, I've never seen someone so strict.

They won't let me run like I used to... (Had to..)

I ran from Kansas City, MO to Limon, CO yesterday and had my trip planned to where I'd reach Silverthorne at 6pm Mountain time. but I just had to hit snow in KC and plow through it ll the way past Topeka at a whopping 30mph.

You will impress them more by having the patience to wait it out. I'd rather a driver be late, than "late". KWIM?

Yeah pretty much my feelings. But depending on your job, you might have to.
