I didnt fail the piss test,I failed the hair faul.I was fresh out of CDL school. My situation is similiar to yours. I am starting a Sap program next week. Just glad to know that there is hope.I would hate to spend all of this $ and not be able to land a job. I live in S.C. and the DMV sent me a letter stating that my CDL lic. will be suspended.I can get it back after completing the sap program. Was your lic. susspended?

Call me judgmental..... call me all the silly school-yard /ugly names that you choose...The simple fact remains that once you make the decision to become a CDL holder , there are laws that will follow you as long as you hold a CDL. I believe the OP said that he took a prescription medication that he had NO prescription for...that was his 1st bad choice...note that I said Bad Choice....NOT Mistake...the second thing was he said he was off duty...well off duty still doesn't mean that you are free to do things that you know can cause you to fail a random (taking a prescription med that is not prescribed to you) had the OP taken a med that had prescribed to him then all he would've had to do was produce the prescription......This boils down to the very problem that is ruining not only the trucking industry..but society as a whole..."the rules apply to everybody...BUT ME"....when folks decide to start taking "personal responsibility" for their Bad Choices...instead of getting all "butt-hurt and upset"....when they get caught breaking the rules we "all" must abide by ..then and only then will things get better....

WRONG! I work for a trucking company. Yes trucking companies DO report it. It's DOT regulation. Lieing on an application is not a good idea either.

Don't you just love a good mixed drink on a Sunday morning; bourbon & Geritol with a splash of Summers Eve?

The first thing you do is pay the few bucks and get a copy of your HireRight-DAC report.
If the company did not put it on there and I doubt they did go get another driving job.
Once you give a SAP person your info to start the class you get put into the system as failed drug test.
DO NOT call SAP until you know what is on your DAC....Period!
The company that gave you the drug test does not report to DMV...there is no law in affect for that yet.
A copy of your PSP is good to get too....
With both of those you will know what every company will see on your record.

I know a driver who failed a random and had another job the same week....never went to a SAP program or anything.
That was several years ago and he still has a clean record.

And some people fall victim to the screwed up regulations such as my husband. Couldn't go pee and was listed as failure to give sample and that showed the same as a positive result, hes never done drugs nor does he drink. But yet had to complete the SAP program. Which he did and is working driving for a different company. However we are terrified if the oil field jobs slow to far down he will have to look for another job and unfortunately be held to the same regs as a person whos actually done drugs or whatever they tested positive for. This ##### just messed up all the way around.

    agandy25 and Chinatown Thank this.
