Nope. They won't hire you. Time to find a new line of work.

Was that test with a trucking company? If not...simply omit it. It won't be on your DAC, and (most) companies (non-trucking) will not report a failed drug test for fear of being sued. They will simply put a "Do Not rehire" on your file.

The way it was explained to me at Sage CDL school was this, upon failing a drug test you have to come up with 15 hundred dollars to hand over to a SAP, state approved phycologist. After completion of a rehab program they will either, and I am not sure here, give you a clean slate or put you on probation but you can still be a driver. I am not sure about other states, this was in Pennsylvania. drive55cat

Yes as long as you did your SAP program a company is allowed to hire you/rehire you. We have hired drivers as such,, although you are subject to randoms without the normal random regulation. Meaning the company can say hey go pee in a cup 2 days after you take a test.

So yeah it's possible and yes some bigger companies will do it. Many understand that sometimes drugs/alcohol do get in the way and depending on the situation they might give some slack :).

There is hope just keep trying. Getting some help regardless if you feel you need it, looks good for the record :). Some may not even require that, not sure on them regs.

This information is false. There is a possibility of rehie, but you will have to comply with the governing regulations. A Substance Abuse Program will have to be completed, and you will be subject to random testing as part of the program. The company that hires you will have to be aware of the requirements and as with anyone getting hired, they will have to clear it with their insurance carriers.

Since you are not employed by a trucking company now, you will end up footing the bill yoruself, or possibly having it's cost covered in some other way.

It's possible, but you are going to have to put in some real effort, and walk the straight and narrow from this point onwards.

if you failed a drug test and i was running a trucking company, it wouldn't matter if you drove when you failed it or not, simple fact is I would not hire anyone who failed a drug test. but there are companies out there who really don't care if you fail one or not....

9 months ago I failed a random drug test for ***** ***** It was a prescription medicine I had no prescription for, I was off duty at the time and I happened to go back to my truck to relay a message that I would'nt be back to work in 4 days because I was sick, (thus the reason, for taking the medicine) I got called into dispatch, and told to take a random, I failed, I got fired. I went to work construction for the past 9 months, as I had gotten sick of truck driving after 5 years without a Accident, 5 years without a ticket, 5 years without a service failure, five years without any log book violations. Yes, I'm fully aware of just how sickening the truck driving industry is, Common Sense would say that during those five years of driving, I made the company alot of money, And if anyone here tells me that the truck driving companies, (mostly) the giant ones) have'nt had record profits the last ten years, then you are delusional at best. Anyway, this first of january i decide to get back into trucking as I missed driving alot. Ater about 20 applications and about 7 or so interviews and tens and tens of phone calls, I finally landed a truck driver job, this after completing the SAP program (cost $6oo) in December. Do I regret failing a drug test, YOU BET!, but, it is not the end of the world, most Recruiters are complete ****, I'm not too impressed with them, they follow orders, but, there is a few good ones out there who understand what it is to be HUMAN, and not a #### NUMBER in a DAC sheet. This is another thing that makes professional truck driving the disaster that it is now, overly regulated, insurance company dictators, WTF!

In the end you are a HUMAN BEING, not a #### number, although some of you would wish for everyone to be a number like yourselves...pity.

I am glad things worked out for you and you got a second chance. I also agree that many people on here are quick to pass judgement without knowing the facts. However in the future I would recommend not self medicating.

People are quick to say the things that are coming out of your mouth. But if they sit back and think about what they did in there past...... They may think twice about what they say......Because there is no one on this earth perfect.........Everything that happens in your life is a learning experience. So i truely believe that you should get a second chance.....Remember that GOD FORGIVES NO MATTER WHAT......THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
