New Strategy for 34 hour reset for teams?

I have recently started running team with my wife going from Pa to Ca and back. My question is simply this; "can a team operation show sleeper berth in conjunction with off duty time to accumulate the required 34 hour reset?"

Allow me to give an example to explain.

Driver A is driving the truck on the last leg of the trip to get home. Driver B is in the sleeper berth for 10 hours during this final leg. Driver A arrives at home and Both drivers go off duty for 24 hours. The next day driver B starts the first leg of a new trip while driver A goes to the sleeper berth for 10 hours.

This is in essence 34 hours off duty. Does this meet the letter of the law in regards to the 34 hour reset?

Yes you can do this. I did just what you are saying on a dedicated airfreight run for about 1.5 years. Just make sure that both drivers get a full 34 split between line 1 and 2. Any thing on line 3 or 4 of their personal log book starts the time for a reset all over.

Thank you for the response truckerjaw. I thought it was legal but then again a dot officer may have a different idea of what "off duty" actually means!
