Do's and Don'ts of Parking your Trailer? - Truckers' Trucking Forum

I saw a Enclosed trailer <not a Reefer> parked at a Large Supermarket, this early afternoon, and was still there 5 hrs later.
Can you leave your trailer parked , and leave it , if it is loaded with products?
Can you leave your trailer parked after it is emptied at that site (with permission) and go about your business and come back and get it?
Are you supposed to leave your trailer behind, and for what reason? <mechanical I understand>.

If you don't have a Rest Stop, or Truck Stop Lot to rest, where are the next 5 spots you can safely and without legal hastle PARK?

I have thought of opening a Bed/Breakfast (A Moment of Home) for the Truckers out there.
I have acreage, and we are 1 and 1/2 mile's from a major freeway.
Easy acess in and out for the Big Rig!
Kind of nice to pull into a homestead, shower, eat good food and get some much needed sleep.

Don't Park Your Rig In A Motel Lot After You Have Circled The Truck Stop And Found Nowhere To Park.

Cost Big Bucks For A Guy I Know.

Don't drop your empty trailer in an abandoned gas station in a big city. It becomes a homeless shelter... LOL

I dropped mine one time, right next to my house-- when I came back and hooked on, I saw the trailer door swing open in my mirror. Someone had moved in and was still at home when I got up under it. They left in a hurry with the 'fireplace' going--a small trash fire on the floor!

I wasn't away from the trailer more than 15 minutes and in fact, still had it in view while all this took place.

NEVER drop a loaded trailer anywhere except a company authorized drop yard, etc... and then only if they tell you to. Otherwise, you could have a lot of explaining to do when it comes up empty or missing.

If you've got the room, the money and the desire to start a B&B go ahead. If you want to allow trailer parking for a limited time that is up to you.

1st: Acreage , paved and insured for the trucks?
The field is to soft come spring time.

Or: Have the "Home Stead for OTR's" and drive a shuttle van or a simple vehicle for starters.

I have the facilities to house Horses hauling cross country, but I find people are much easier to be responsible for, maybe

Some friends of mine turned there OTR Trailer into a traveling home, generator, propane and electrical.
Kind of cool, but the longer they are on earth, the more settled they have become.
He (BigBob) use to drive OTR , got so "Miffed" he tore up his CDL and never looked back.

I dont think companies would allow trailers to be dropped in an unauthorized location; but its ok if its still hooked up to the tractor.

Myself...I just park at the local mall nightly because I can't get a spot at the truck stops when I come home late...the mall hasnt said anything yet.

I think if you have the ability, it would be a bigger attraction for trucks to be able to bring their trailers too...just dump some class 5 down or something to park the trailers on. I mean, if its a B and B....you aren't going to have that many trucks parked. Ie...if you can only have 3 at a time, the trailers on your property isn't going to take up too much space.

Is that gravel, no can do with pasture being a parking lot.
The pasture line sets on the end of a road , with my main back gate. Truck could drive in and make a loop and be parked facing out ready to go.
Electrical hook-ups needed for the trucks?

I see our local mall is receptive to you OTR Warriors.
I suppose it is best to park near "fuel',huh?
Sometimes I will see OTR's parked at the top of mountain passes for awhile.
