Dumptruck Trucker Research

Hi All, I've spoken at length with Dan. He is for real and needs to talk to more drivers to complete his research. I think his work could benefit all of us in helping to make the rest of the world aware of the challenges and endless BS that all of us deal with every day.

For a country that would come to a standstill without us we are under appreciated. Please try to give him a call and talk to him on the phone if you can't make it to Colorado - he is really interested and you can remain anonymous.

The next part of the study involves sitting down with some 'actual' truckers and talking with them. Does anyone know what would be the best way to get in touch with some drivers in the Denver/Boulder, Colorado area?
local truck stops and you can allways catch one at a local repair shop.Welcome aboard

Yes, but I really need to spend a decent amount of time with these individuals... the interviews can take up to an hour- this ensures that I get the whole story and not just the "bits and pieces" that some journalists look for in a juicy story. I need good, in-depth data, and that takes time. Do you think that drivers would be OK with this if I approached them at a truck stop? I have to admit that I have not yet tried this approach for fear of being shunned.

And again, thanks to everyone for all of your help and support.

well i can tell you that if you can walk into one of the truckstops and go into where the drivers are sitting down to get a bite to eat you would be suprised how many will sit there for hours and talk because they are trying to get that 10 hours off so they can start driving again or they just like to sit back and talk about whats troubling them,i have made a lot of friends bellied up
to the bar ,eating some vittles and talked for hours and planned to only stop for a 20 min. break. there iis plenty that will sit there and talk and can give you some great conversation .try it and i believe you will see where i am coming from and good luck.

OK, thanks. I'll give it a shot.
It sure would help if I was the opposite sex or better looking though...

I need at least 20 completed interviews by the fall, and I only have about half of that right now, so I might as well try. I'm also working on getting some "business" cards to give to folks who would like to participate, but don't have the time at the moment.

Ithink you will do ok.If you sit down in the coffee shop you will figure out who likes to talk real quick. Especially if they are sitting at the bar they like company. The ones who usually r buy thereselves in the corner are usually shy.Trust your instincts and sit back and read the people by there actions and you will be amazed how good you will do.
