speaking of inverter

What is the largest inverter one can buy that will plug into a cig cord. I dont run a lot of stuff, but I wanna be able to get as much juice as possible.

i will have a laptop, coleman fridge, and maybe an XM radio. Plus charging my phone and bluetooth.

400W is the largest you can plug into a cig lighter, but I wouldn't suggest it. It has the potential to start a fire and burn down your rig if you use it while the truck is running. Almost happened to me in a Freighltiner, it may have been due to a faulty wiring problem in my truck, but I never have a problem unless I use it while the truck is running. Thats when I start smelling overheating wiring harnesses (too much juice for the lighter wiring). The 400W also blows out fuses unless I plug it into the back cig plug (The closest one to the batteries).

I never had a problem with my old 300W. FYI I now use a 150W and it works fine for the laptop and printer. It just takes a little longer to get a full charge on the laptop.

you shouldn't need one for your fridge or radio. a 100-150 watt will be MORE than enough for a laptop and cellphone. but you should be able to get a car charger for your cell phone and might be able to get a DC supply for your laptop. then you wouldn't even need the invertor.

Problem is, my DC charger works when it decides to. those things cost 70 bucks. If I can get away with an inverter I can save $$$ and get the job done.

I have a 350 watt

I Have a 350 watt Rayovac inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It works great and has enough juice to charge my laptop or cell phone.

If you want a microwave or toaster oven in your truck then you will have to go with an inverter that connects directly to the battery. I have a 1500 watt for my microwave and toaster oven as well but am considering upgrading to a 2500 or even a 3000 watt. I am disappointed with my Coleman 40 quart cooler and will probably upgrade to a dorm refrigerator (once I get a bigger truck) which will make the larger inverter necessary.
